Bring back the heart button!

It's SUPER frustrating, we can't see which songs we liked in our own playlists, Bring back the heart button PLEASE, the new way doesn't work AT ALL

I just noticed they finally got around to enshittening the Linux desktop app, which still had the working "like" functionality. *sigh*

Every time I open this app and don't see my favorites emphasized in the UI, I do just a bit more of the work necessary to switch to a competitor. A few more weeks of being forced to deal with this enshittified spotify downgrade and that'll be it for me.

Currently looking at: Tidal, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Deezer. **bleep**, I might even go back to Pandora or, god forbid, Google--...er, Youtube Music.

PLAY, PAUSE, SEEK, LIKE... this is literally the simplest most basic featureset required by any media player app. A highschooler with an "Baby's First HTML+JavaScript" book could code an audio player with that functionality. Who are the senior developers at spotify that can't even get this simple use case right? Who are the UI people who got away with story boarding this? Who are the product leads that directed this? Who are the QA people who allowed this mess to reach actual paying users?

Can you imagine if Netflix suddenly dropped the ability to indicate which content you liked, and relied solely on their "list" functionality? Oh, but they changed the thumbs up icon to a "+" so it's all good!

What a f**king mess.

I cancelled my subscription. Spotify does not hear the users. Each update makes the mobile app worse. Removing the heart button was a mistake. This is so frustrating!

Discover Weekly used to be my favorite feature. Now it's completely useless. ALL the songs have green checkmarks by them... to show that they are in a playlist... the same Discover Weekly playlist that they are in!!! So if I wanted to add them to my Liked Songs playlist... I have no idea what I already added. So incredibly stupid!

Spotify needs to listen to its users. BRING IT BACK

Their UX team needs to be fired. It's ridiculous whoever signed off on this

YES THIS. I hate this new add to playlist feature so much. It messes with the way I add songs to my likes and just keeps adding songs to the last playlist I added songs to.

I absolutely despise the plus button. Whoever came up with this idea should be fired. The like button worked perfectly fine, and as others have said, scrolling through one of my playlists to see which songs are liked is impossible now. If I am scrolling through a playlist that I made, then believe it or not, I actually know that the songs on that playlist are on a playlist. How stupid are the programmers at Spotify?

You know what's funny? It's the fastest-growing idea ever submitted in 2023 (1000 upvotes within 2 months of posting is unprecedented) and Spotify still haven't cared to respond. They really do care a lot about us.

After this absurd change, I've been looking at competing apps.
The truth is, Spotify is falling far behind in terms of usability.
Look how simple it is, Spotify: You like a song, you mark it, a little star is placed next to the title, and it appears everywhere as a favorite, on all the lists. Simple and it works. And in the desktop version it is even simpler.

And this? Even though it has nothing to do with hearts. You can add a pre-release album to your library, complete! This way you avoid the continuous drip of singles, and it even marks the singles with a small circle.

The truth is, I find fewer and fewer reasons to stay on Spotify.

Hi Roadie, I completely agree. Which one are these screenshots from? And do you know if it has a similar cross-fade facility?

I don't care if Spotify doesn't like us discussing other options, they have left me with no choice, it's useless to me without the hearts/similar indicator. I've only been waiting in the hopes they fix it but I'm losing the will, I'd literally rather start all over again with a new one now.
