Bring back the heart button!

It's SUPER frustrating, we can't see which songs we liked in our own playlists, Bring back the heart button PLEASE, the new way doesn't work AT ALL

i too am jumping ship, spotify has become complacent. it was always bad, but its rapidly becoming unusable.

It's been over a full year since it was accepted as a "Good Idea", I wonder if Spotify has any updates or if they should've closed it and said "nope" years ago.

I've been meaning to stop notifications on this post because the like button came back to me I think last summer.  Maybe earlier so I'm surprised that others don't have it still but I also people are posting about other things on here as well.

Spotify prefers you to listen to what they push rather than what you actually want. That’s why they removed the “Like” button—it gets in their way. They’re making it harder and harder to create and organize your own playlists. They just want you to listen to what they dictate. Otherwise, there’s no explanation for why the “Like” button still hasn’t returned.

I can imagine Spotify's response to this request:

We understand that changes can take some getting used to, but our goal is to create a platform where discovery and personalization go hand in hand. Actually raspael, I don't agree that they made it harder to create and organize your own playlists. Quite the opposite, playlist handling has greatly improved. But it is far from perfect and certainly not good enough for a so-called or self-proclaimed industry leader.

And with they way these improvements are implemented, I don't see the added value of a separate Liked Songs list anymore. So I prefer to keep this improved playlist handling AND have a separate visual indication for liked songs.

As raspael said, removing the like button, a feature every other competitor seems to be able to comprehend the utility of, makes it harder to create and organize our own playlists by definition. This is true regardless of whatever other features are or are not added or removed. Now... what could possibly be the reason to enshitten your own service like this? Perhaps their end goal is to have us listen to what they dictate rather than what we, LITERALLY, like.

I'm subscribed to this thread because I'm curious if Spotify is capable of actual improvement, but I've long since moved on to Deezer. I didn't know what I was missing with Deezer Hifi; even my non-audiophile ears can detect the increase in quality. Even if they did see the light one day and decided to catch up to their competition feature-wise, no use going back now.

Spotify, it's time to put this back. It is a serious flaw that is a great obstacle when organising your music.

I think the major problem is that they changed the button to more of a playlist button instead of a heart/like button so it makes it so much harder to tell if it's in your liked songs or not. I'm constantly confused if a song is in my liked songs because it might have a check mark (where the heart/like button would be) and that doesn't mean it's in your liked it just means it's on a playlist you might have. I've found that when I add random playlist or my linked Shazam and other similar apps the songs will show up with a check mark but it's only because they're added to a playlist of mine and not a liked song. UGH. It's annoying.

This a screenshot of me trying to figure out if this song is in my liked playlist from my desktop. No idea by looking at the song. I can see it has a check mark where the heart/like button would be. I have to click on it to see that the check mark is noting that it's in a random playlist and not my liked. You can see I have to find my liked playlist in my library to be able to see this, so obnoxious. 

If that isn't frustrating enough. Instead of just clicking what would have been the heart/like button to unlike a song now we have to click remove from liked playlist. On my desktop PC app if you don't right click on the button it not only makes you do this but you have to confirm after you unselect to remove from liked playlist.

What do you mean with "You can see I have to find my liked playlist in my library to be able to see this"? If you click the checkmark you can immediately see (In the "Add to playlist" popup) whether the track is in the Liked Songs list or not (because it will appear on top of the list). Same behavior in the mobile app. Just trying to be helpful, because I do agree with anyone (expect Spotify) that playlist handling and liking songs are 2 separate things so these deserve/require separate controls or indications. Separation of concerns! Who can convince Spotify that their UX sucks?
