Bring back the heart button!

It's SUPER frustrating, we can't see which songs we liked in our own playlists, Bring back the heart button PLEASE, the new way doesn't work AT ALL

I've been in this A/B test for the past week and it's been miserable. I can't do most of the things I used to do in Spotify. Here's a small list:

  • I can't see which songs in my Discover Weekly and Release Radar I've liked.
    • This also makes it really hard to jump back in where I left off.
  • When viewing an artist I can't tell what top songs of theirs I like at a glance.
  • In playlists I collaborate on with friends, I can't see what I've liked.
  • In friends' playlists I can no longer show them at a glance "oh yeah, I like these songs of your playlist too!"
    • In fact, I have no idea which songs of theirs I listen to. I haven't memorized the names of all 15k songs I've liked.
  • When a new album from an artist I love comes out, I can't add all the album's songs to my Liked Songs (which is the nearly exclusive way I consume my library).
    • You've kept the "Like Album" (which does nothing with the songs, it just pins the album)
    • But you remove "Like All Songs" which is self-explanatory. So now I have to go and, for each song, swipe the song leftwards to like it.
      • OH, but if I hit one song in the middle of that album I've already liked (e.g. it released previously as a single) it now pops up this big modal showing which playlist(s) it's in. That's not useful, and just slows down manually liking each song even more.
  • Also not only do I no longer get to glance at which songs in a playlist/album/artist that I like, but I can't even "peek" at it's Liked/Unliked status by sliding it left without releasing my finger. Previously, if the song is Liked and you peek at it, the action you're peeking at will be the red "Unlike" action. But now it shows as ( + ) regardless of whether you've Like it or not.

As a Spotify user of nearly a decade (15k liked songs!), I'm very used to being in A/B tests that are sometimes wonderful and sometimes annoying. But never have I been in one that has so fundamentally destroyed my user experience with Spotify and sucked all the fun out of it. I'm mourning the loss of it.

Unfortunately Spotify has removed the heart icon, and now I have no idea what songs I’ve liked (or not) at a glance. This greatly effects my experience using the platform and the replacement plus sign is confusing as there is already a plus sign for adding tracks to albums. Over all? I’m very disappointed in this poor choice.

Please bring back the heart icons!!! All the changes over the years have enhanced Spotify but removing this feature totally takes away from the user experience. I am seriously BUMMED about it 😭. The hearts were a brilliant way for you to easily tell if a song is in your “liked song” or in a playlist I’ve created. Everything in all my playlists were hearted and that was over 3.5K of songs. I don’t understand why you would get rid of it. It is one of the best features to visually pinpoint new music I may not already have in my library. I am constantly creating my own playlists from other Spotify playlists and now I can’t tell what I already have. Seriously, I was completely heart broken over the 💚 removal.

This feature was literally my main use case for using Spotify. I need to be able to see all songs I’ve liked or hidden in a playlist or album at a glance. This way I can easily play specific liked songs without having to remember which ones I liked or clicking on the song to see if I’ve liked it. More importantly, liking and hiding songs is my first step towards adding them to my various playlists. If I can’t quickly see what I haven’t liked or hidden yet, then I don’t know which songs I have yet to listen to to make that determination. It becomes a scavenger hunt clicking through song after song to find the ones I have yet to like or hide. And then I still need to find the ones I liked vs hid to know which ones to add to my playlists. I know I can also just find them in my Liked Song playlist but I’ve got thousands of songs there and it’s impossible to know which ones are already sorted into playlists or originated from a given Spotify curated playlist. Now my Spotify experience is going to be painful. Apple Music is starting to look very appealing now…

Great news!! Spotify has every intention of bringing back the ability to view which songs you’ve liked in the playlist or album view. The removal of this feature is just temporary. Read this link’s FAQ and here’s a screenshot. Woohooooo!!!

Shocking removal of one of the most useful and expected features in ANY media player.  I literally can't think of any possible justification for removing the ability to actually SEE a song you have click "+" or "Heart", or whatever.  How on earth did they release an update with such basic functionality pro-actively removed?   I mean, I remember having the feature back on my Microsoft Zune.

Such an easy thing to bring back, and gives the user so much. No idea why they thought removing this was a good idea.

I’ve been using Spotify for years and the ability to easily add favorites was the main feature I have always used since day one. I have the latest update and do not see that the like button is back. Especially frustrating because most of the time I’m driving when listening (one of my cars I still use an aux cord and phone mount) and now I can’t quickly like songs with a simple tap and have to navigate through a convoluted playlist menu.

Long time Spotify fans + paying customers here. Our fam uses Spotify everyday and we tell a lot of people about it too. Good stuff. BUT…but but but…
Why and I mean WHY (lately) is Spotify continually making interface and functionality changes that are just horrible (and I really do mean horrible and not just trying to be dramatic) and NOT helpful nor intuitive design or flow???
These changes are making it such a pain to use the app or enjoy it and I would think that’s the total opposite of what Spotify wants for the user experience.
To be specific I am speaking about these horrible changes (so far) …

(1) when you tried to move the playlist title to the bottom right of the screen (while seeing a particular song playing on main screen) instead of playlist title being at the top where it should always go… and so when you click on it then it will take you to the playlist home page. That’s perfection. Having at the bottom and clicking it then it pulled up a queue like list of the playlist, terrible. Don’t fix what is not broken… Common wisdom for all types of design.

(2) BRING THE HEART 💚 BACK FOR “LIKED” SONGS… ASAP… PLEASE 🙏 Whomever had the idea to turn that into a plus symbol and/or check symbol, stop it. Just stop it. It’s terrible.
… The whole new design that’s trying to change the flow of liked/hearted songs is a horrible design and extremely disruptive to the whole interface and purpose of this system of liking songs, of being able to easily see and track liked songs. Now there is NO WAY TO SCROLL THROUGH LISTS AND SEE ONE’S 💚 hearted likes songs, at all, which is completely useless and makes it where one can no longer track them like that!!! Is Spotify trying to purposefully do that? If it stays like this I don’t want to be a customer anymore because you cannot make playlist like this or keep track of anything or have intuitive, easy to use tools to track your music to build and share playlists etc… which is what Spotify should want because that’s what we pay for!!

(3) The plus sign symbol for this is terrible too because you used that symbol for other functions, which were good and easy to navigate. Now none of these changes easy to navigate and takes away many user friendly and crucial functions of what makes Spotify a good music app. And how you are trying to integrate this function into looking at all playlists at one time to see if a song is already in them…. Not cool. This type of feature could be cool to check all playlists quickly to see if that particular song is in them BUT AS A SEPARATE, DIFFERENT, DISTINCT feature on its own, NOT and I repeat NOT as a replacement for the Liked songs and heart 💚 system that works brilliantly already (before you all changed it to something terrible and not functioning).

*** You all have to keep the green heart 💚/liked song function as it was for this app to actually function well. It literally has completely disrupted the entire way I use the app and system altogether and is severely annoying and not functional nor enjoyable now. I have loved this app and we all use it everyday but do not love it at all with these changes.

AGAIN: GOOD DESIGN IS GOOD DESIGN, Do not fix what is not broken, Do not keep changing things that are already solved and distinct to the functionality to your music app… you all are just messing it up.
Thank you for reading feedback and I really hope you all put back the system of the 💚 green heart symbol that is such a helpful and crucial tool to see liked songs in liked list as well as in other playlists and new music to check out and crucial tool for building new playlists etc. CRUCIAL + INTRICATELY WOVEN + NECESSARY TOOL INTO YOUR ENTIRE APP.
