This has been mentioned quite often on here, but it always seems to get shut down for one reason or another. I am hoping that with all of the attention being placed on feedback right now, this suggestion can finally find its footing and get a full response from the ideas team.
Implementing the ability for an artist to place an upcoming album as a part of their discography before its release will finally give Spotify users the convenience, organization, and discoverability the feature provides. The upcoming album will show the album's tracklist, release date, cover art, currently released songs, and anything else the artist wants to share.
This allows for:
REAL album pre-saving, where the upcoming album is placed in Your Library along with its currently released singles, and any singles that get released before the full album release.
The pre-release singles to share the same cover art as the unreleased album, if the user chooses. The normal single version & cover art would obviously still be available to those who prefer them.
A "Coming Soon" section to be added to Browse, listing albums that are available for pre-saving and allowing for Spotify users to finally be able to keep tabs on the upcoming album releases.
Artists to more efficiently promote their upcoming albums alongside their single releases, with each new single release being another opportunity for a user to check out the upcoming album's page.
Spotify to simply catch up on a feature that other streaming services have been providing for what feels like an eternity, especially considering how widely used and loved the feature is elsewhere.
