[Connect] [Kids] Add Spotify Connect support for Spotify Kids

When playing music through Spotify Kids, it is not possible to cast the music to a Google Chromecast audio device. This has lead to many conversations revolving around “but why can’t I put my dance party on the stereo”, and so we have to go back to the main Spotify app to get said dance party going and avert the tears 😀And with the kids stuck at home on account of school closures and lockdowns, there are a lot of dance parties happening. And they much prefer the app geared towards them than the regular app. Because the Spotify Connect feature is already implemented in the main Spotify app, it should be implemented also in the Spotify Kids app to have the same connectivity options.

I’ve been a happy Premium user for a while now and was pretty excited to move to the family subscription after adding several Echo Dots to the kid’s different rooms. This was supposed to be a surprise for them…

After setting up the first kid’s account, I started getting frustrated with seeing no clear way to connect the kids account to their Dot.

After searching around for a while, I finally found this thread which confirmed what I was afraid of.

It really surprises (and disappoints) me that this issue has been ongoing for so long. I just do not understand why big companies like this can make such poor decisions. I don’t usually leave comments online, but I felt I should at least leave honest feedback due to the issue affecting so many parents in the same exact situation.

I’m not only canceling my family subscription, but I’m canceling Premium altogether and will try out Amazon or Apple - both of which appear to work (based on other comments).

In a world where data is incredibly valuable, we have a request from parents who WANT to have a service (Sonos with Spotify kids) for their kids AND who are PAYING for it (kids account only available via Premium Family) with a fair amount of likes (330+ at the time of writing). This is an easy win for anyone combing these threads looking for future opportunities (advance your career) to create subscriber growth (parents will add/delete subscription), revenue, and data (really...kids data).

Common folks...it's been 3 years since the original post. Make this happen! You'll have my extra subscription at least.

Any updates?  It’s been 3 years…

Currently, the spotify kids app does not allow to play/cast to home or smart devices such as Alexa. At the moment, and for the past year, my spotify account is flooded with baby lullabies and kids music which makes it hard for me to enjoy the music that I like to listen to without manually making a playlist. The spotify kids app allows for Bluetooth devices but not to essentially cast to devices that aren't Bluetooth, is this something that could be looked into? I just want to put on a time capsule or daily mix without needing to pull over and manually select a play list or artist radio 😞

100% agree that connectivity to smart speakers like google home needs to be a feature for the Spotify Kids app. I just reviewed my Spotify Wrap and it was ruined, once again, by all of the kids lullabies and Disney music that I play on my daughter’s smart speaker for her. To my surprise, after years of feedback about needing a separate kids account, I was happy to see that this is finally possible. I immediately purchased the family account and added my daughter with her own kids app. Yay! But wait…noooo, we still can NOT use the smart speakers throughout our home with her account. So disappointing as this is our primary way of listening to music at home.

I would like Spotify Kids be available through Alexa dot device. To sign into my kids kids Spotify kids account.

How on earth has Spotify still not fixed this?A streaming app that can’t cast is a joke!

Four years and Spotify has still not managed to add casting ability to the Kids app?

What a joke!
