[Connect] Multiple Speakers / Devices simultaneously

Now that connect is becoming available it would be nice to be able to connect to multiple outputs at the same time. For example I have 2 connect compatable speakers... it'd be great to have these in different parts of my house and be able to stream the same music to both.

I would suggest a maximum of 3 devices at the same time. This will allow for most scenarios to be catered for without streatching the bandwidth too much that it will degrade quality.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for coming to the Spotify Idea Exchange.

We've discussed this idea and while it is interesting, we aren't able to prioritize it and don't have any immediate plans to implement this. We will let you know if this changes in the future.

If we do have any new information to share, rest assured we'll check back in here with a new status.

More info on why your idea has been closed can be found here.

Would love this! And on top it would be great to listen to different songs on different devices

iTunes already has this function..... So what are we waiting for?!

Go....go....go Spotify!!!

Fantastic idea, that would completely make it the best system ever!!!

If you don't want the users to listen at different locations (e.g. two smartphones on the go) then only allow multiroom in the same WiFi Network, but don't limit number of speaker.

I am a new spotify user and this would indeed keep me for life. Different songs on different devices should not be allowed as this goes against the fact each spotify account is for 1 user. Just the ability to play the same on multiple devices/speakers (maybe have a limit on number or as previously suggested limit all devices to the same IP address). This would be great for parties so multiple rooms could have the same music.

I saw a video about Spotify Connect the other day and was just about to order a compatible Pioneer speaker, when noticing Spotify Connect can only playback the music on one speaker at the same time.

This is definitely a dealbreaker as you can't use it for parties.

It would be nice to get some update from the developers if this functionality will come?

Count me in on this! At the moment I use a workaround on my PC using Airfoil, spotify and spotimote to send to 3 sources at once. Multi device support (as suggested, 3 is fine) would really simplify my set up!

I really want Spotify to fill my home with music, so when I walk from the lounge to the kitchen I can keep listening to the same music. This would be great!

It's a fantastic feature, but the terminology of the connect feature is confusing; I discovered it not by some tech blog post/announcement but by chance, and it said "Playing from [my other device]", the implication if it is playing *from*, of course, that it is indeed *playing*! But this isn't the case, it is playing *to* the other device, or at least "controlling" the other device. Took me a while to work out that there was nothing wrong with the output of the device 😞

This would have been solved if it plays back on multiple devices on the same Wi-Fi connection at the same time, I don't see why this is restricted?

The big thing I'd like to do with Connect is to be able to listen to a song on my desktop, find out I need to go mobile, and be able to instantly send the current track and position to my mobile device on the same wifi or vice versa.
