[Connect] Option to deactivate Spotify Connect

I want to have the opption to turn it off. Please fix this, i wan't to listen to music and still be online without connect starts.

Please fix this.

Hey everyone,

It seems that this idea ended up in the wrong board accidentally, so we're bringing it back.

We're keeping the Not Right Now status, as we don't have any immediate plans to implement this. As soon as we have any new information to share, rest assured we'll check back in here.

Take care.

My experience with this has been very similar to other commenters here.

When I'm in work, I'm playing from a playlist with lots of songs/albums queued up. Then all of a sudden spotify will launch on my phone and connect to the computer, it then automatically starts playing a different song and wipes the queue on the desktop. It's infuriating and there's nothing I can do about it other than to turn my phone into offline mode all of the time.

This is super easy fix:
Put an on/off switch for the whole feature and individual on/off switches per device as some might still want to use the feature on some devices but not all. Done, sorted!

The shared play feature is also anoying as hell. And not working as it should; when I get to work it replays the queue I had on my phone on my way in to work. Backwards.

When at work I want to keep my local queue. I don't want it replaced by the songs I just listened to on my way in to work!

most stupid idea ever, WHY would anyone listen from two devices at the same time? It drains my android phone when I listen on my work pc to music because now its also playing on my phone. Please at least make an option to put this off, I don't pay 10 euros a month for this bull**bleep**.

dsach

I want to disable it, too! It causes problems with playback on my PC and my Android device.

I'm a premium user who has been using spotify with no problems for two years. A few days ago this spotify connect thing started between my desktop and my phone, and it is making the service basically unusable. The mobile app keeps launching on its own while plugged in across the room. I keep turning it off and it turns back on again within thirty minutes. This wouldn't be so bad except every time the android app launches itself, IT ERASES THE QUEUE I JUST MADE ON THE COMPUTER. Even when it's not interfering with anything (like deleting the queue or turning shuffle on/off on my desktop), the android app "now playing" bar isnt even displaying the correct track! This is seriously the worst. The idea of controlling desktop spotify with my phone is kind of cool, but useless. But it wouldn't bother me except I don't actually have the control, the android app on a phone that;s not even in my hands does. Please give us a disconnect option. Just let us opt out.

They will add on/off feature or I'll not extend the premium feature... I don't want the spotify to drain my cell battery while listening to Spotify on PC...

Absolutely agree that this is a crucial fix. I had 1000+ songs queued at work, and then a few days ago, my phone queue superceded my desktop queue. They should treat the queue like Netflix does. If you have a queue for your TV and then you watch something else on your phone, it doesn't erase your Netflix queue, you just are watching this new show/movie, and the rest of your queue remains.

I haaaaate this feature. I set up queues at work or songs that will keep me productive, and then when I come in the next day, I find that all overridden with what I was listening to in the car on the way over. Immensely frustrating.

This connect thing is so annoying, I'm ready to just take my collection off Spotify and listen on my phone's mp3 player. I've been a paying user for as long as Spotify has been in North America. This is the first time I've considered using a different listening option.

Like everyone else has said... I too use three very different types of playlists for different places (Work, Home, Car, etc) The worst part of this is that all of the songs I just heard earlier in the day/week, will likely replay because the queue got completely reset. And like someone else also said, I was trying to listen to my Spotify account on my phone late at night with headphones, and my PC started playing my music at full volume waking up my VERY angry gf.

And turning on offline mode IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE solution. That is a hack, that an end user should never have to resort to. A properly designed UI would allow the user to turn this thing off.

Just get rid of this obnoxious feature please!

My issues began roughly a week or three ago.

When I play music on my PC, playback randomly pauses and switches to another song. When this happens, it also messes up my queue. As I mainly use Spotify via the Queue-view, I've noticed that when the played song suddenly changes, the "playing from" information changes to blank.

I find it annoying that whenever I turn on the music on my computer, my phones Spotify widget wakes up and seems to track what I'm playing on my computer. I'm also worried about the effect this might have on my phones battery. At least it seems like I don't have the same battery performance as I had before these changes took place.

I do get the point of this feature, but there should be an option to switch off or control the Connect-feature. Keeping mobile devices in Offline-mode is not an acceptable option to this.
