[Connect] Option to deactivate Spotify Connect

I want to have the opption to turn it off. Please fix this, i wan't to listen to music and still be online without connect starts.

Please fix this.

Från en trogen användare sedan år tillbaka 🙂

Hey everyone,

It seems that this idea ended up in the wrong board accidentally, so we're bringing it back.

We're keeping the Not Right Now status, as we don't have any immediate plans to implement this. As soon as we have any new information to share, rest assured we'll check back in here.

Take care.

bug report: opened my phone (didn't press play on it) and my computer, on which I was listening, paused playback. One device should never do that unless I actually hit play on the other device. It took a bit to figure out how to get control back on my computer. Pressing play should have been all that it took. Pressing play on a device should override playback on any other device. I should never have to manually switch from device to device.

ugh, it switches to my phone when I'm listening on my computer and downloading on my phone. Ick! Just because I download on my phone doesn't mean I want to *listen* on my phone. It switches several times. Not for each track, but at least twice each time.

The Connect to a Device sounds like a great feature... but it's not. It is the most annoying function on this music app. So much that I consider it a bug... let me explain:

When I am listening to music on my computer then decide to go hop in the shower, I normally listen to music from my phone. The problem is, when I play music on my phone, it starts playing on my computer. Every time it does this. Then, when I go back to my computer, I then need to do the same thing as it now plays from my phone. Let's ignore the same playlist being carried over  as that is another issue with this "feature".

To make this an even more frustrating experience, if I pause music on my computer then after a few minutes press the play button on my keyboard, it will start on my phone... I wasn't even using my phone but it wants to play from it.

So now I am wanting to go run an errand, I hop in my car and it connects to my phone automatically (no issues here) but then I don't hear music... oh wait, it's playing to my computer again...

While I do see the desire for this feature, I have never needed or wanted this "feature" it is a buggy mess that needs to have a toggle to disable it entirely.

Now to the playlist part of this "feature"... I do no want to listen to the same music on my phone that I listen to on my computer. My computer is for work, I listen to completely different music (focus music) while working and I typically use another playlist on my phone. Due to this "feature" I am always having to change the device and playlist.

Connect to a Device is not a feature but a distraction. It is buggy to say the least. Why there isn't an option to disable this shows massive short sightedness for the one that made this decision.

This is such an annoyance that it has come to a point where I am seriously considering cancelling my Spotify subscription and go back to another service that doesn't have this frustrating experience.

If you insist on forcing this on your users, how about a dialog to ask if you want to play on the other device? If I hit play from my phone, I expect it to play from the phone, not the computer.

An app is meant to improve the user experience, for that, Spotify fails massively. This app is the most frustrating experience I have ever had on a music app. Adding a way to completely disable this would be a huge move in the right direction. you can see online how many users hate this "feature" and want a way to turn this off.

Maybe 2025 this will be done???

When are you going to finally address this feature request? It's poorly implemented and gives little value to the users. Frankly, it seems like the real reason for this feature is to prevent a single account from being used by multiple people, not to provide something useful to the users, and to that I say: find a better way to achieve this.

Hi, I have a request related to "Connect to device" feature.

I've been listening to spotify on my laptop during the day one playlist.

But as well as it I've been listening to spotify while driving completely different playlist.

As for now related to "connect to device" my "car" and "home" playlist playing always replaced with the latest one.

So is it possible to disable this feature and not sync play between devices?

Thanks!
