DISLIKE BUTTON

If i hate a song, then I don't want to hear it ever again. All of us run into this on an hourly basis. Every single day. Why in the world cant we dislike (or thumb down) a song to remove it from existence? Why do you torture us by playing songs we don't want to hear?

There is a "hide" option (only on mobile), and its playlist specific. The desktop version doesn't even have this somewhat-useless feature.

So I vote for a universal dislike button. No playlist limitations. No desktop vs mobile limitations. No buttons hidden in submenus. Just a simple, easily accessible button that can eliminate our headaches once and for all.

It's me who has to decide what I want to listen and not Spotify who pushes artists whom I do not like. Frankly other services offer this option and if Spotify does not change I will turn elsewhere.

My release radar and discover weekly (and most of my daily mixes) are effectively useless without the ability to let Spotify know what types of music I do or don't like.

It's very frustrating that a music discovery app recommends random music to you and doesn't let you provide feedback on the music it suggests.

It’s not even the fact that it’s songs that you don’t like that appear consistently in our algorithms. Almost every time I search and listen to a song, prompting the “radio” of whatever song to start playing, Spotify resorts to the same 20-30 mainstream songs that you have happened to listen to often. I understand that they would push music you enjoy, but if your listening to Spotify 300 mins/day and the algorithm tries to play the same song 5 times in a day it gets very annoying, very quickly. This can also be seen in any of my daily mixes, as a quick scroll through the playlist would show 90% of the songs in the mixes are ALREADY IN MY LIBRARY. This app has proven its machine learning and algorithms are HORRENDOUS when it comes to discoverability.

Additionally, you should be able to indicate why you dislike the song. Because the algorithm could think that you dislike the entire artist or genre of the song, but you only dislike this song.

The way it constantly tries to push Taylor Swift onto me is ridiculous. The only time I listen to her is if she pops up in my 2010's playlist, and I don't often listen to that playlist (I think I even only have 3 of her songs in there). Smart shuffle will add her into any playlist I'm currently listening to. Taylor Swift playlists in my suggestions. Spotify should know I'm not seeking out to listen to her.

They use to have this feature and it says "implemented" on the top feature suggestion for this topic. I don't know why they removed this. I'm sick and tired of being recommended Hazbin Hotel songs and I want it to stop. I'm tired of having the same songs I hate recommended to me over and over again. please at the very least let me dismiss a song from being recommended to a specific playlist I made. I can dismiss a song from the Smart Shuffle function, but not the Recommended function. In the daily mixes playlists, I have to do that for each playlist. Just let me block a song, please.

i remember years ago there used to be a dislike button like this: 🚫

i dont think i ever actually used it but we need it now, not just for Made for You playlists but ALL playlists including user playlists & previews! basically it needs to be as prominent as the like/add to playlist button

what im boutta say next probably sounds like it should me my own idea not a comment but if the user selects a song they dislike it goes to a disliked songs "playlist" (not a proper playlist) found somewhere like settings or even liked songs as a hidden side. if they change their mind & decide they either like or dont mind a certain song they can go to disliked songs & remove the song

this could really improve my recommendations, their not looking great rn cuz my taste drastically changed just a couple months ago! a dislike button might help stop spotify holding onto old tastes

@snak3422 i think this should be applied to liked songs so if i got a song from a genre/artist i dont really dig spotify doesnt keep tirelessly telling me i love the entire genre/artist

also @t-vrc8-ybqouk the same thing happens to me, only its with mumble rap

***There is no version of a capitalist society where this ends up "improving music lover's experience," and the result, as expected, is that I get shitty music recommendations, an annoying user interface that prioritizes shoving shitty pseudo-advertisements in my face over providing me a list of songs I'll potentially like, and a music experience where I HAVE TO WORK HARD TO FIND SONGS I LIKE.

I literally hate what Spotify has become and I miss the days of Pirate Bay. I want a way to transfer my playlists (SOMETHING I PRODUCED ON SPOTIFY) to another music streaming platform

People have been asking for the return of a 'dislike' button for years. Listen to your PAYING Customers, and fix this massive oversight already! Not being able to block songs we HATE from being played in playlists etc is ridiculous. Using the 'Hide This Song' option under the three dots only seems to work in the current session and device. The next time I launch the same playlist, or launch it on another device, the song is no longer hidden. I'm on the verge of cancelling my subscription over this.
