DISLIKE BUTTON

If i hate a song, then I don't want to hear it ever again. All of us run into this on an hourly basis. Every single day. Why in the world cant we dislike (or thumb down) a song to remove it from existence? Why do you torture us by playing songs we don't want to hear?

There is a "hide" option (only on mobile), and its playlist specific. The desktop version doesn't even have this somewhat-useless feature.

So I vote for a universal dislike button. No playlist limitations. No desktop vs mobile limitations. No buttons hidden in submenus. Just a simple, easily accessible button that can eliminate our headaches once and for all.

Yes, please. And even an "I'm tired of this track" (or artist) option would be rad, to take a break for a while without having to make any changes to playlist or preferences.

Spotify ranks pretty high in my book. In the past we discover new songs and artists on the radio, and then went to buy the CD. Nowadays one of the only ways to discover new artists and new songs is to use Spotify "recommended for you", which truly has provided me with some great new stuff.  BUT it will also re-play songs and artists that you do not want to hear. So I tend to use that otherwise excellent feature less and less. Give us a dislike button please, then we can really enjoy Spotify.

I'm a big Spot fan, and it's a daily use for me

Dislike is a very rigid choice. On Spot Mixes, it's take it or leave it. Often they include tracks that are very dissimilar to the type of included music. In addition, when the list has been completed it can jump from a mellow mix to a loud screaming guitar Solo, Not that I have a problem with the music, It just doesn't fit in the mix I'm listening to. It leaves me wondering who changed the channel?

Dislike suggests something I never want to hear again. Great in some instances.

Not now or Not in this Mix. Might be a good choice

Thumbs up. "Like" can also be a little complicated, If we had the previous option It would be appropriate.

At least I have the option to create my own mix. It takes time and can easily be adjusted any time, It is 100 % liked music. In the correct categories, Or I change it.

Unless it comes to the end of the list and the Spot Bot wants to listen to (or promote?) something different.

Sometimes that's good too, As long as we have a "LIKE" "NOT ON THIS LIST" or "DISLIKE" choice on a drop-down "PREFERENCE" button.

I also see this feature would be helpful to subscribers and Spot bot in getting feedback to his recommendations.

Who else would like to block certain songs on your Spotify that you don't want to hear? Please vote for a block button.

this button should also work for podcasts. We need a way to tell Spotify we don’t like something we’ve tried or it’s suggested so it stops auto playing it for us. If it’s added for music, it should be hard to extend the feature to podcasts.

I've noticed something about the dislike button on mobile which feels counter-intuitive. While listening to a radio, the quick view/drop down tabs that let you access Spotify through the lock screen or without going to the app, the dislike button appears on the right side of the tab. This occupies the same space which the "like" button occupies when listening to an album or a playlist. As such, when listening to a radio, I have often attempted to quickly like a song I hear but will end up hitting the dislike button, subsequently skipping the song and making it not appear in my listening history. Arranging the buttons in this non-uniform, where like and dislike buttons alternate location, has caused a lot of great songs to slip away from me without catching their name 😔

I hope rude name calling people like this who expect everyone else to respect their wishes somehow get removed from this fourm. They offer nothing  but anger. A easy fix would be to create their own Playlist and stop thinking their opinion must be accepted, Not too many of us will miss them when they are gone. They can go to X FB and whine all they want where no one cares.

Since there's been no updates from Spotify about adding feature parity across platforms, fixing recommendations, or allowing songs to be hidden through a dislike button, I'm switching to another platform.

It's discovery algorithm is already better than Spotifys and it lets me sound ID songs within the app. Hope maybe one day Spotify listens to its users, but I'm closing my account now.

I recently stumbled across a option I'd never seen before,Could be New.Could be helpful.

After previewing a artist I didn't care to hear again.

I right clicked the album looking for options, One was "Do not Include in my taste profile."

Not exactly what we were suggesting but much closer than the current practice of adding everything we sample to our profile and having it pop up on every search, Check it out.
