If i hate a song, then I don't want to hear it ever again. All of us run into this on an hourly basis. Every single day. Why in the world cant we dislike (or thumb down) a song to remove it from existence? Why do you torture us by playing songs we don't want to hear?

There is a "hide" option (only on mobile), and its playlist specific. The desktop version doesn't even have this somewhat-useless feature.

So I vote for a universal dislike button. No playlist limitations. No desktop vs mobile limitations. No buttons hidden in submenus. Just a simple, easily accessible button that can eliminate our headaches once and for all.

My Question or Issue

As mentioned in the title, every time I use Spotify now, I get this feeling of "I've heard this song way too many times," and I really hate that feeling.

I've read many posts in the community where people complain about the recommendation feature, but honestly, I don't think the feature itself is bad. Finding new songs I love used to be what made Spotify so great for me, but that joy is gone now.

I really hope you can tweak the recommendation algorithm and add a dislike feature. I can't stand it when I'm listening to classical music and suddenly a pop song I don't like pops up, or when I'm enjoying some chill tunes and it suddenly switches to hip-hop. Just because I like certain songs doesn't mean I like the entire genre!!!

This is the problem I'm facing right now, and I hope the admins can see this message and take it seriously. It's really sickening 🤢 to hear the same songs repeated dozens of times in my rotation.

Thanks! 🙏

Gonna be a long, long wait.

It's been nearly 2 years since this was proposed and still, nothing. I came from YouTube Music for a variety of reasons unrelated to their service. However, the service on YouTube Music is certainly better than Spotify in almost every way. Having a dislike button available across all of their platforms is such a basic feature. I genuinely can't understand how or why Spotify is missing something so fundamental. Spotify strikes me as the kind of company that is too big and too comfortable to care about providing their customers with an excellent experience. They're doing great financially by offering just a good enough experience, so why try harder?

I wish I could go back to YouTube, but I have even bigger problems with them as a company than I do with Spotify, even though Spotify's service leaves a lot to be desired. To say that I'm disappointed is an understatement. I'm not fond of giving them my money every month, but I imagine the free service is even worse.

Would also like reinstatement of Dislike Button for podcasts not just music.

It's super annoying that something so simple as disliking a song is not available on a software platform almost two decades old. We all want it. If it's there, then you've made the process to complicated or hard to find. It's easy to like a song... we want the opposite now.
