DISLIKE BUTTON

If i hate a song, then I don't want to hear it ever again. All of us run into this on an hourly basis. Every single day. Why in the world cant we dislike (or thumb down) a song to remove it from existence? Why do you torture us by playing songs we don't want to hear?

There is a "hide" option (only on mobile), and its playlist specific. The desktop version doesn't even have this somewhat-useless feature.

So I vote for a universal dislike button. No playlist limitations. No desktop vs mobile limitations. No buttons hidden in submenus. Just a simple, easily accessible button that can eliminate our headaches once and for all.

@all: seems to make sense to also vote for this idea then: https://community.spotify.com/t5/Live-Ideas/A-modern-music-app-must-have-a-quot-block-song-quot-opti...

This way we're not distributing the votes over 2 ideas..

@DKPlaylists
The "dislike" button on Spotify works only for the specific user. It is not intended to be visible to others but rather to feed the algorithm to suggest relevant content. I am not at all concerned with who likes or dislikes a particular song. Therefore, the "dislike" button is necessary to train the algorithm.

DJ... that's the same attitude people have about letting ads on streaming platforms you already pay for... "Just instantly skip this ad, on this service you already paid for to not have ads."

The point is for all these services to do what you want in better ways. Not create more work, interruptions, need for workarounds for users, unless you want to pay more and more for services to do less and less. That encourages services to make worse products to sell. Personally, that annoys me, not sure why so many people openly embrace having worse products.

Yes, I can't believe that when I block artists they still show up EVERY DAY FOR MONTHS in my recommended artists, albums, trending for you etc etc. this in the most annoying thing about this app. All of my recommendations consist of musicians I will never listen to and have blocked.

I agree, i want to prevent a band from being played. For me, i thought of this because Spotify has been suggesting songs from a band whose singer is a Nazi, literally. I'm sure Spotify doesn't know this, the music isn't about Nazism and I'm not even asking to censor the band, i just personally don't want to keep hearing a Nazi singing and having to skip it repeatedly.

A band which I love very much released a song recently. I hate that song with all my guts, I am so frustrated and disappointed that somehow I would like to make the band know that the song is a true abomination and a big mistake. Dislike count has not to be publicly available, I just want to notify the band about my feelings about the song... Also I never ever want to listen to that song but it pops up. So, blocking the song may also solve my problem and can be used as a metric by the band.
