DJ interactivity - Thumbs up/thumbs down to influence the AIs algorithm

I would love to see more interactivity with the DJ.

For about 2 weeks straight the DJ was just playing different types of metal for me and while I enjoy that I listen all day at work and I need a change of pace throughout the days

If I "like" a song it gets added to my liked song list and sometime I would just like to provide feedback directly to the AI like a "Great song choice, play some more like this" instead of pressing the AI button and making it 'Switch it up a bit' by playing some more metal
to implement this a simple thumbs up/ thumbs down icon that only influences the AIs algorithm would be all you need.  It could even be built upon more buy a double thumbs up/down to indicate I really like/dislike this band or song but I like the genre.  The reason for this is sometimes I get a song that I am really enjoying a lot and the very next song just doesn't hit for me.  I don't want to hit the button and bring the AI in to change it up because im liking the genre but not that song.  while you could argue that skipping the song works that way maybe im skipping a song that I dont like at that time but its still a good song, I still want to hear it just not now.

having a little more influence over the AI would be greatly appreciated.  I typically listen to it all day, but when all it offers me is metal, and im wanting some rock, pop, EDM, dance, 80 rock, or indie I have to go out and search playlists for music.

I feel implementing a simple thumbs up/down would be much more beneficial to the User, the AI, and Spotify as a whole to help the AI learn individual preferences, and more capable of getting you the right song at the right time

With the dj having access to a lot of things it’s a great addition, but with its current functions it’s just not where it should be imo. If the dj could use ai to access Wikipedia or other things it could help recommend better songs and not play the songs you have been listening to recently, which is basically its main function for niche artists and/or genres and just leads to overplaying the song. Another idea which seems almost dystopian but in my opinion would be very interesting is a dj that has the voice recognition to be your own, this could also work if you could pay famous voices people want to hear and their voice could be your dj. This tech exists because Waze did similarly around 2015 with making you or a family members voice give you your directions through recording yourself saying a few prompts.

I found this thread from the search "DJ Feedback".

I think the DJ could be more useful if users could tailor and modify it's algorithm.

Perhaps less repetition of specific artists I have listened to but play other artists in the same genre as the artists I frequently listen to.

Also maybe be able to prompt the AI (DJ) with a genre, artist or word and see what it (he) finds.

Perhaps alternate DJs? I like the semi funky dude DJ but maybe have a few alternates for variety.

In general more user input and feedback beyond the current DJ button that should perhaps be labeled "no, anything but this."

I use three dots > hide song. Is this something you’re talking about? (I like the AI playlists, which is probably what the user who said, “DJ, play such and such music.”) Can Intelligent crossfade be sitewide, not just in DJ?

There are many AI related ideas submitted, but I think this idea summarizes the problem pretty well - the current "DJ" button really doesn't seem all that AI-ish - if you hit the button, it seems to switch up the genre entirely.  SO i think more AI interaction is needed.  The DJ needs someway to take feedback on what details the listener likes/dislikes on a song.  ie:  "I like the song, like the genre, like the 'sound', but the vocals need to be changed up". something where you can dial into a specific component of a song you want to key in on - either to keep it or eliminate it from the next song to be queued up.

A good reference to model after is Chatgpt's image manipulation interaction.  you can feed chatgpt a real picture - of a room in your house, of your backyard, etc - and say, I like A B and C, but I want to change or enhance X within the photo.

I like the Spotify DJ, but I think it would be great if you could train your algorithm a little. I propose a seemingly simple solution. First, have the history show the category the DJ used, whether it were a genre, a decade, or a band, then list the songs in that block. Beside the category, have three simple choices: 1.) More like this. 2.) Less like this. 3.) None of this. If you like the frequency of a category, do nothing. If you want to hear a category appear more often, select more. If you want to hear a category less often, but not completely ignore it, choose less. If you don't want the DJ to ever play songs from a certain category, choose none.

It's really obnoxious that I'm listening to a rock playlist while I'm trying to work out or do chores or something, and then the DJ will suddenly randomly play some crackling fire sounds or a soft stream. The things I listen to at night are absolutely NOT what I want to hear during the day.

The fact that there has never been an ability to thumbs down songs is kind of infuriating. I can't go to every single artist who has ever uploaded soft sleep sounds on Spotify and select "do not play". I don't want to listen to this specific type of thing while I have the DJ running. I literally only want to ever listen to that specific thing when I am already in bed.

Yesterday's update for greater personalization turned out to be excellent. But I would like even more personalization and more freedom of choice and customization! But keep it up!

I listen to tons of music; I use DJ, Release Radar, and Discover Weekly. The DJ needs to learn, as he plays a lot of the same music. I was thinking Spotify needs a voting system, especially if the content creators are in the monetization programs. A scale of 1-10 would be useful because some people play music as background music, so your system thinks it's a great song, but it's not. Alternatively, the DJ will play the same songs when I first open it for the day, and he says, "based on your recent listening," and it's usually the same exact songs. So if I gave it a grade, maybe he could learn from it. If I give it a 5, he shouldn't play that song for at least a week. If it's a 1, he can try again in 5 years.

I also think it would be nice for the creators of the music to see what their users are into. Give us some emojis as well. That'd be sweet.

Thanks,
