[Desktop] Bring back Lyrics

Allow me to re-edit again, in premise, that thanks to all of you this idea keeps receiving votes, and I am grateful to each of you, and when I expressed this desire as an idea I was a newbie, I owe to the professionality of Marco and Toku, whom I thank again, that I became aware that this idea it’s by no means new, nor even mine but Spotify’s, yet it is properly expressed, and it is shared by enough Community members for it to be still alive, and I agree with Arcanscape that, "We really need the lyrics feature", and I just notice an excellent temporary alternative of “SpotifyLyrics” kindly programmed and provided by Mirth (fr31): https://github.com/fr31/spotifylyrics/releases (via scoobyTdog), it works very well on my Pc 🙂 and I invite you all to try it.

Whilst singing might be fun, I have another approach to lyrics and sound, which is of course not mutually exclusive, and I read the words to see if I like them as I enjoy the melody, if I see myself in the lyrics, if I share the values expressed, and this is easier by having the words at hand.

So please Spotify bring back the Lyrics Feature most elegantly -- as you did with restyling the Community -- when you find a better Lyrics Provider.

Reading and listening might be even better than karaoke, although not as fun 😉

and every member could always do both, even just singing, as a very close person in my family does, and many other people do.

Thank you for evaluating, with my warmest and most sincere Regards.

Marco, a poet at heart

A few years have now gone by and I still remember the really cool lyrics feature. I do not understand why it is still gone. It can't possibly be so hard?

It's obvious to me that Spotify doens't care about lyrics and thinks this half-assed Genius integration it sufficient. I've been using Apple Music on iOS 13 and the lyrics feature is perfect. It syncs with the music and it how all services SHOULD be. I suggest you look at Apple Music as I have now because nothing is changing with Spotify.

It is so hard to just show the lyrics? This app is becoming obnoxious ...  luckily there are another apps to show lyrics

This company goes straight towards the abyss. Years without implementing the changes that users want. If it weren't for the publicity and the good image it had years ago, today it would already be dead.

3 years later and we still have no lyrics feature. I'm seriously considering Apple Music at this rate...

Stop considering. Do it. I cancelled my premium subscription a month ago
when they messed up my billing during a card update and I lost my hulu
subscription because they "can't do that any more." Even though it was an
issue with how their billing system handles card changes/updates. Spotify
premium is not worth $10 a month if they can't even handle an appropriate
lyrics system. If I'm not getting the $7 worth of hulu as part of that $10, I'm
not paying it. If they dropped the price to $5 I'd consider it.

I can't believe they still havent done anything or even given us any updates, spotify is so **bleep** useless when it comes to updating their trash desktop app.

Spotify go to such great lengths to portray an image of a company who actually cares hence the support on Twitter and facebook being named SpotifyCares. The reality for users is somewhat different. Ask a question and the best you will get is "we hear you and we'll pass it on to the right team". Nothing will be done. EVER.

Yes they do update things but every single one in recent years has been a backwards step. The latest UI changes are a great example of how not to do it.

As for this community it doesn't seem to have any reason to exist. The same issues hanging around for years being totally ignored by Spotify.

Well I have decided enough is enough, ive been paying for spotify since 18/12/2014 (yes i looked it up in my reciepts)

They got rid of one of the best features which we all want back however spotify continue to ignore it. Yesterday i cancelled my premium membership and moved to Amazon Music.

I know that they dont have the song list of spotify but i can get lyrics displayed even on my Echo Show for a lot of songs.

Im not here to promote anyone else but if spotify will not listen then go elsewhere as i gave up waiting.

3 years on and still nothing! Can't believe Spotify simply don't care about this or the users. I've been with Spotify since the start, but all app development seems largely static - arguably it's worse than it was as we had lyrics support 3 years ago!

I have a bunch of iOS devices, and I'd have long given up and swapped to Apple Music a few years ago if Apple's PC support wasn't so grim (iTunes has always been and will presumably always be rubbish). Why not just find someone willing to do a lyrics deal and sign them up, as using 3rd party apps for this isn't great.
