[Desktop] Bring back Lyrics

Allow me to re-edit again, in premise, that thanks to all of you this idea keeps receiving votes, and I am grateful to each of you, and when I expressed this desire as an idea I was a newbie, I owe to the professionality of Marco and Toku, whom I thank again, that I became aware that this idea it’s by no means new, nor even mine but Spotify’s, yet it is properly expressed, and it is shared by enough Community members for it to be still alive, and I agree with Arcanscape that, "We really need the lyrics feature", and I just notice an excellent temporary alternative of “SpotifyLyrics” kindly programmed and provided by Mirth (fr31): https://github.com/fr31/spotifylyrics/releases (via scoobyTdog), it works very well on my Pc 🙂 and I invite you all to try it.

Whilst singing might be fun, I have another approach to lyrics and sound, which is of course not mutually exclusive, and I read the words to see if I like them as I enjoy the melody, if I see myself in the lyrics, if I share the values expressed, and this is easier by having the words at hand.

So please Spotify bring back the Lyrics Feature most elegantly -- as you did with restyling the Community -- when you find a better Lyrics Provider.

Reading and listening might be even better than karaoke, although not as fun 😉

and every member could always do both, even just singing, as a very close person in my family does, and many other people do.

Thank you for evaluating, with my warmest and most sincere Regards.

Marco, a poet at heart

Hey!

I think it’d be really cool if Spotify could add stars next to an albums more popular songs like in apple music, it’d be very helpful.

Thanks!

I eventually decided to give up Spotify and I already cancelled my Premium account. Obviously I am not going away just because of the lyrics... User interface is always changing and it is not consistent between laptop and phone. Music suggestions were better before. Podcasts don't sync correctly. Whenever I upgrade the app or listen to podcasts in other devices, all records of listened episodes are washed away, they all show as new. At least don't expect me to pay for this...

It is my understanding that Spotify just released lyrics to every android Spotify user in Mexico, Indonesia, and potentially Canada. No word on IOS or desktop atm.

Hi JackH429, where did you read about Spotify releasing lyrics?

I also went on twitter and saw that many Mexican and Indonesian people had time synced lyrics in these early yesterday morning. The only major complaint is that it was only on a select amount of songs, but with Musixmatch having the largest library of licensed lyrics, it should have as many songs as Apple Music in a short amount of time. According to an Indonesian tweet, lyrics are only available on Android as of 01/30/20.

There is already a concern with how lyrics are displayed on Spotify. The first, is that lyrics that have already been sung, remain highlighted (bolded), which subtracts from the emphasis on the current line of lyrics. This, and how each line of lyrics traditions to the next, in this early beta it shows a very mechanical transition. What would be ideal is the transitions that are utilized by Apple Music and musixmatch. If you having trouble visualizing this, compare the video I posted above to a video of Apple Music’s lyrics feature.

It is apparent that searching by lyrics on Spotify is not in the foreseeable future.

(on other partnered company pages “search by lyrics” is clearly shown)
