[Desktop] Bring back Lyrics

Allow me to re-edit again, in premise, that thanks to all of you this idea keeps receiving votes, and I am grateful to each of you, and when I expressed this desire as an idea I was a newbie, I owe to the professionality of Marco and Toku, whom I thank again, that I became aware that this idea it’s by no means new, nor even mine but Spotify’s, yet it is properly expressed, and it is shared by enough Community members for it to be still alive, and I agree with Arcanscape that, "We really need the lyrics feature", and I just notice an excellent temporary alternative of “SpotifyLyrics” kindly programmed and provided by Mirth (fr31): https://github.com/fr31/spotifylyrics/releases (via scoobyTdog), it works very well on my Pc 🙂 and I invite you all to try it.

Whilst singing might be fun, I have another approach to lyrics and sound, which is of course not mutually exclusive, and I read the words to see if I like them as I enjoy the melody, if I see myself in the lyrics, if I share the values expressed, and this is easier by having the words at hand.

So please Spotify bring back the Lyrics Feature most elegantly -- as you did with restyling the Community -- when you find a better Lyrics Provider.

Reading and listening might be even better than karaoke, although not as fun 😉

and every member could always do both, even just singing, as a very close person in my family does, and many other people do.

Thank you for evaluating, with my warmest and most sincere Regards.

Marco, a poet at heart

Going to switch to Apple Music once iOS 13 comes out with full Lyrics feature 🙂 thank you Spotify for not listening to us once again. Behind the lyrics is trash.

Canvas... It's simply extracted visuals from music videos; copy paste edit to few seconds or self created clips in loop. It looks fun to watch for awhile and that's about it. Any usefulness and meaning to it?

Genius's Behind the Lyrics.. It shows one or two lines (chorus or somewhere) from lyrics and briefly mentions some stuff about lyrics. That's about it. It rushes to finish as the songs end.

Storyline... Is it similar to Behind the Lyrics? Is there an overlap? Why is there a need for both Behind the Lyrics and Storyline? What is the purpose for both? Aren't lyrics the storyline for the song?

Do a proper and meaningful introduction/background to explain the concept behind for the album or songs.

Today is 26th June 2019. Where are the full lyrics or even synchronised lyrics (**bleep**!.. that is too much to ask for) from Spotify?

Just wondering if "soon" still exists because 3 years later and over 100 pages of comments and I am questioning whether anyone at @Spotify is actually listening or indeed cares https://t.co/TEbJO0mmsE

My guess is that they don't even bother to acknowledge it

This just came back and I am just gonna bang my head against the wall

Hey there! We don't have any info on this right now, but we'll let the right team know it's something you'd like to see. For anything else, let us know /PK

Generic response from Spotify "cares"

I think this can be solved quicker if we ask Musixmatch to create their own
streaming service rather than asking Spotify to implement lyrics 😀.

Such a basic feature that all the rival services implement one way or
another and yet they spend time in useless stuff no one cares about like
the facebook and social integrations.

I am switching back to my walkman.

I on the other hand want to get rid of the lyrics. Or at least an option to disable them.

Well i should have made a deezer abonement instead. They atleast have lyrics well i think its nit that late. Go on with not to listening to you listener(users). This is how you ruin a business.

Hey, I just wanted to share this as some fellow coder might find this convenient.

If you're using Visual Studio Code plugin vscode-spotify can do exactly this. It follows which song you're currently listening, and provides a command to open a tab with the lyrics for this song. Works really well! Hopefully Soptify devs won't break whichever api is being used there.
