[Desktop][Friend Feed] Move 'Share Activity' Toggle to Friend Activity

Spotify recently decided to change the default of whether a user is sharing their activty or not. This update doesn't actually solve the issue that the activity toggle is hard to find and unknown by a large majority of users.

My suggestion is to place a toggle and indicator at the top of the 'Friend Activty' sidebar so that users can turn on and off their activty sharing with ease and be aware of their sharing status. This will not totally resolve the issue because a user will need to have the 'Friend Activity' sidebar enabled to see it to start with but it is a start to making this functionality far more accessible and obvious.

An additional change would be to place a 'Share Activty with Friends' button under the 'Private Session' button in the profile dropdown menu with a green check mark to it when enabled similar to what the 'Private Session' button does when enabled. If this is done it is important to make it clear in the settings menu and possibly through hints what the difference is between enabling a private session, and disabling sharing your activity.

And they should turn back on everyone’s friend activity toggle that had it on in the first place

I completely agree. Friend Activity is my favourite feature on Spotify and used to allow me to discover so much new music that my friends were listening to. With the new change, it renders the feature practically useless because unless people are notified and can see the toggle, they won't know to turn it back on.

It's bizarre no one was notified of the change to their settings. Is it a secret?

It was a bad move imo. We could be waiting months for a fix.

And turn it back to default. I didn't even knew mine was disabled, i had to put it on and  it's embarassing to ask people to do the same.

How will this help for the ppl we follow who don't use the desktop version? Will we see their activity again? They ARE sharing activity and it can be viewed when searching their profile but not anymore on Friend Activity. Please bring this back, I miss my "Following"!

I really want to vote for this idea but the button “vote” isn’t working…. ?!

(I didn’t managed to vote)

IN EXTENSION to this great idea;

The thing that’s in my opinion (maybe even more) a big thing or solution also in different idea’s I’ve been reading in several related items on this forum platform; ADD A TIMER TO THE PRIVATE SESSION FUNCTIONALITY 😁

- people don’t have to turn it On and Off every time if they listen a work or sleep playlist that’s not personal

- the algorithm doesn’t get disturbed as much as well

- people don’t have to look it up (as much) where the functionality button is

- people can not forget to put it on and off
