Disability Concession for disabled people

I do notice that there is not enough kudos for this topic.    Are you sure?
I strongly believe that if you have discounts for students - able bodied in most senses- then physical and intellectually disabled people should receive the same concessions.

Monitoring the bona fide of this would not be hard.  The user would need to submit the details of their concession card.

I am writing this on behalf of my intellectually disabled sister who loves her music.  She has limited finances, and any financial discount helps her to access other things.

I just cannot believe in this age, that there is not enough “kudos” for this.   I’m sure the artist who get a token amount of money from Spotify would agree to monetary concessions to disabled people.
Spotify could do a great service to themselves and the community to concede to such an idea.   Don’t forget it is 2021.
Get with the times please

Spotify needs to get enough upvotes for this policy to be implemented? REALLY???

I'm going to guess somewhere in your mission statement the company's mission is to provide your services to anyone without discrimination. Pricing people out of your services IS discrimination. Not only do disabled people have less money than students but the discount provided should be larger if not 100% free altogether.

It's really upsetting to see this thread left un-addressed by spotify.  I made me very sad to see this thread which has been going for years, as its clear that spotify do not value the needs of disabled people who are often in physical or mentally ill health and have difficulties with finances

Most companies or organisations have things to reduce barriers to entry and increase accessibility, but not Spotify. They are not speaking with their actions, or their words

I wholeheartedly agree! I am a 2-times cancer surviver, with numerous side effects popping up as a result from all the radiation and chemotherapy. My medications cost hundreds of dollars yearly, but my specialist bills (rheumatologist, neurologist, haematologist, oncologist etc) and medical procedures, cost me thousands of dollars each year (my 1st visit to my rheumatologist alone was over $600!), so any discount Spotify can offer would be most greatly appreciated .. and in fact, needed, because without a great discount, I just cannot afford to indulge.

I came here to propose a discount for senior citizens. As a retired teacher, I need to count every penny. Unfortunately, I just dropped my account. But PLEASE consider disabled!

I was referred to this page after getting in contact with Spotify support via email with regards to this exact topic.

I stated that I wondered whether Spotify ever take into consideration a disability pension discount as I wasn’t sure. And just like this discussion, I mentioned that they do a student discount and it would be pretty unfair to not take other scenarios into consideration.

Forgot to say that’s it’s absurd to me that this still hadn’t been considered and implemented after all this time!!!

Living with a lifelong disability there has never been an instance where the fixed income was above the estimated poverty line and right now it is more than half way below that. The difference for me was when younger I was able to counter income shortages by doing all my own repairs and acquire used items I needed. Now I'm a senior and disabled and unable to do that any longer. Also they say that the cost of living has doubled but opposed to what? The annual 4% or the actual cost of products? Usually the annual increase of the cost of products has been higher than 4% and I have precise memories of when it doubled 20 or so years and when it doubled again over the last 5 years. Not only do fixed government incomes not increase with the cost of living it was cut over 30% in my lifetime and only every 5 or 10 years were they generous enough to give us a 1% increase. Just recently many thought the request to double our income was ridiculous but if the math had been done it would have clearly shown that this increase still would not have countered the massive cuts or lack of increase on a yearly level. It would have still not brought us above the poverty line. As for the lack of votes I can assure you that most disabled people do not have the time or desire to go much past finding that there is no category for them due to the constant ongoing stress of their condition.

I dearly hope that you will add a category for us or combine us with say the student price mainly because music is the only thing many disabled can manage to do to counter their stress.

give disabled people over 65+, the price of a student?

Had a conversation with an agent about this today. It came as “totally new” idea to her.
