[Discover] Exclude selected Playlists from Taste Profile and Discover Suggestions

I play music off Spotify for my bubba to fall asleep to. This is typically classical/meditative relaxing style tracks. Since she sleeps 4 times a day this type of music is getting a LOT of playtime but is not representative of my music taste. I'm finding my Discover Weekly (which I LOVE by the way) is moving more away from my music and more towards the classical/chill out stuff I play for the little one.

Would be super cool to be able to mark a playlist to exclude it from the Discover algorithm.

Thanks!

Hey folks,

Thanks for coming to the Spotify Idea Exchange and voting to make this happen.

We're happy to announce that Exclude from Taste Profile feature is now available on all platforms. There's more info about the topic in our Newsroom Article.

If you'd like to give it a try right now, follow the steps below:

  1. Select the playlist of your choice.
  2. Tap the three dots near the top of the playlist.
  3. Select “Exclude from your Taste Profile.”

Once again, thanks for helping us make Spotify better, by participating here on the Community 🙂

Completely agree with this suggestion. Completely necessary and really messes up people who use Alexa/Google Home with routines to play music to go to sleep to.

2021 and still waiting for this. Could be as easy as a right click -> "exclude song/playlist from Discover Weekly Algorithm"

Ok let's check out "Made For You"

... The Prototypes - niice
... London Elektricity - legend
... Metrik - awesome
... Peppa Pig

oh...

Guys, you need to fix this, seriously!

Hey,

I agree with everyone else. This would be awesome to implement. I use chill playlists for my yoga every day and now my discover playlists are all just ambient whale noises rather than the indi rock I need!!!

What Is found is that because the private session is hidden in a corner in settings, I went past it not knowing it existed. So when Spotify wrapped happened, everything was filled with these random calm piano songs and wasn't reflective of my music taste at all. This feature should be much more visible!

Can't believe they don't fix this. They heavily rely on their super genius generated playlists, yet they fail to acknowledge that for everyone listening to audio books the whole feature is broken. Just exclude certain genres like audiobooks from the auto generated playlists. Can't be that hard....

Many people use the sleep genre to fall asleep, obviously. The discover weekly gets flooded by sleep songs. Consider giving premium users the option to set the average time they start sleeping to when they stop. That way you can have the Discover Weekly algorithm remove or limit the amount of info it pulls from those hours. Just a thought

I listen to Lo-Fi to study, when working my desk job, or to fall asleep. That is NOT the kind of music I listen to normally. It has now flooded my Discover playlist and will not go away. I have to resort to using YouTube to listen to it now. Is that what Spotify wants, people to leave their service? Because power users have and will.

This would be such a wonderful feature. Please give it to us!

Any way to get updates if this feature will be added?

Adding my support to this, since my proposal was closed as it was marked as a dupe of this one.
