[Discover] New Releases Section for Followed Artists INSTEAD of Release Radar Playlist

This is a follow-up to this idea: New Releases Section for Followed Artists by @MattSuda.

While the original idea currently has over 1,300 votes, Spotify's answer was that the Release Radar playlist meets the need presented. I don't think this is true, and I have doubts that the +1,000 people who voted do, either.

So this new idea is an attempt to gauge the level of support for a true New Releases from Followed Artists section in spite of the existence of the new Release Radar playlist.

We want a feed that:

  • Shows new releases ONLY from the artists we follow, and shows ALL new releases from the artists we follow
  • Shows releases neatly in chronological order, with clear headings showing the full release date (day, month, and year)
  • Neatly presents new releases in the form they were released (i.e., EP's and Albums are shown as such rather than as a list of all songs within them -- or make this a toggle option)
  • Goes back in time as far as possible (preferably all time, to show all releases from our Followed Artists in chronological order)
  • Clearly indicates which releases are new to us since our last visit
  • Has a number badge on the button for the section that tells us if there are new releases since our last visit, and how many
  • Not crucial but nice to have: Can be filtered by time frame, artist, release type (album, EP, single), country, genre, etc.

Hey folks,
We appreciate you coming to the Community, and adding your votes and comments to this newly presented idea.
We're setting this to 'Not Right Now', as this isn't something we have any immediate plans to implement.
If we do have any new info to share, rest assured we'll check back in here with a new status.

We'll continue passing your feedback along to the right teams too.
Thanks

I mainly use Spotify to stay up to date on the latest music form artists I follow. I'm always searching for the "new releases for you" section but it's always in different spots on the home feed, and sometimes it's not there at all. Also it doesn't show EVERYTHING new from the artists I follow, only some new stuff and it only changes every few days.

Now the Release Radar only shows a limited amounth ( Now it is limited to 200 and last update only 30 show up) wich means that we might miss music from some of our favorite artists, this is a problem for people that follow a lot of artists.

PLEASE! SPOTIFY LISTEN TO YOUR USERS FOR ONCE

Spotify changes a lot in the UI, but a really nice feature like this never comes to life, even not after 6 years.

I want to see all new releases of artists i follow.

I really don't care about what Spotify thinks I would want to listen next. Eliminate Release Radar and bring this feature for us!

What I REALLY HATE in this IDEADS forum is the following:

when an idea picks up votes and Spotify does not like it, they just create a follow up and ignore all votes on the initial post.

Like this one: https://community.spotify.com/t5/Implemented-Ideas/Discover-New-Releases-Section-for-Followed-Artist...

It had over 2500 votes.

Problem: I want to listen to new albums all the way through. Not just one off songs. I also don't know the dates albums are being released at a high level.

Solution:

I want a section in my recommended feed for the top 10 new album releases (just albums) based on my listening history.

Kind of like knowing what Wide Release movies are in the cinema this week, I want to stay on top of album releases in the same way.

My lists currently are a mix of singles and albums and I cannot view more albums by release day. Even a calendar that I can click on to see all major released albums would be great.

What I really need is an option to categorize in genre the artist I follow! It would be easier to find what you need, Jazz, Metal, Rock, Pop.

My absolute fave thing on Spotify is the Release radar, and I really liked how it used to work for me. Then uni started and I started listening to a bit more Lofi study beats than usual and I would select different playlists to play songs. I would also listen to a bunch of different chill, house, downtempo while I studied and worked on my computer. Then all of the sudden, release radar has started recommending songs from artist that I really don’t care about. I am sorry but I don’t care what new lofi beats are coming out tomorrow, but I do want to listen to them. I have tried manually changing what recommendations and playlist to include or remove but I have not been able to do so successfully and its very time consuming having to go to every playlist I ever played and decide whether to include it in my taste or not. I wish there was a section where I could see all the things Spotify thinks I like. It would also be nice to see it as a bubble map. Where I can see what genres or artist I like the most as I think bubble maps are great visually (although maybe computationally expensive to do?!)
