Historical Blend Analytics

While the current Blend experience is a beautiful snapshot of two people’s shared listening tastes at a moment in time, what if we could see how that shared taste evolves? Introduce historical Blend tracking — giving users access to previous Blend playlists and optional insights that show how musical overlap with a friend changes over time. This would let users see how shared music tastes shift across seasons, life stages, or relationships, track common artists/genres over time, revisit past versions of their Blend playlists like a musical scrapbook, and optionally opt into Blend “history” graphs or timelines that reflect musical closeness or divergence. This could bring a deeply personal, even sentimental, dimension to Spotify listening — ideal for best friends, couples, or anyone who forms connection through music.

This matters because Spotify is already a place where people connect through sound. By making Blends historical and trackable, you offer users not just music, but memory. It’s not just about what we’re listening to now — it’s about how our musical bonds grow, shift, or even fade. That’s a story worth telling. I truly believe this could deepen the social and emotional impact of Spotify in people’s lives.
