Mark / Disable AI Generated Songs

The platform is increasingly flooded with AI-generated songs (especially the Release Radar), making it harder for users to discover authentic, human-created music. To improve the listening experience, Spotify should introduce a clear label for AI-generated songs and provide an option to filter them out entirely.

Hey folks!

We're seeing your feedback and, in this regard, we'd like to share some more info on the matter 🙂

Spotify is introducing clearer AI disclosures in the song credits, as well as stricter impersonation rules!
These updates will help protect artists’ identities, ensure royalties are distributed fairly, and give you - the listeners - more transparency.

Note that AI disclosures do not affect how the music is treated for recommendations.
For more info in regard to these new introductions, see the Newsroom article here.

That's all for now, folks! Stay tuned for possible updates in the future.

Spotify, we need FILTERING not just labeling!

AI disclosures in song credits is well and good, and a step in the right direction, but what we’re asking for is the ability to filter AI-generated content.

Unless the disclosure is a giant "AI GENERATED" instead of album art, what does this accomplish? I don't want to listen to AI generated music. I don't want to be exposed to it. I don't want to inadvertently give a listen an AI-generated song because I left Spotify on shuffle. I don't want to support this type of content at all. Just let us completely filter/block it from the jump. Surely that'd be an easy integration. Your own news release says you're implementing ways to allow "...artists and rights holders a way to clearly indicate where and how AI played a role in the creation of a track—whether that’s AI-generated vocals, instrumentation, or post-production." Give listeners the ability to filter and block based on that same criteria.

Re: "Note that AI disclosures do not affect how the music is treated for recommendations."

What I gather from your post there is that you haven't actually read any of our concerns and are only making changes to protect your bottom line and liability regarding artist impersonation/copyright. This exact line from your post is exactly what we DON'T want.

We want the ability to actively filter out and remove AI created/assisted content from any/all of our playlists, we want the right to not have to funnel our hard earned dollars to criminal enterprises that blatantly steal en masse (see the recent Meta court documents - re: torrenting copywritten works) the hard work and soul of true artists to feed their algorithms without anyone giving rights or permissions.

What you are offering isn't even a band-aid, try harder.

Til then, my money's on Deezer who have actively removed a large portion of AI from monetization and recommendations, I haven't heard a single AI track since I left Spotify last month, it's been wonderful.

@Vasil We all want a switch in the settings like the one you already offer for explicit content that will allow users to exclude ALL AI-generated content from ALL our 'Made for' mixes, Dicovery Weekly, Release Radar, shuffle play etc.

Having to dig into the credits is no good.

Have a look at what Deezer is doing (they automatically exclude AI content from recommendations) and get your act together.

Note: AI disclosure does not affect on recomendations ! But that is what we want that is the subject of this thread and spotify don´t care. And the article in the newsroom says music has allways been created with technolygy. I mean this is nonsense don´t you have any music knowledge before taperecorders and mixingbords and computers and everything else, music was created since the early days of mankind but completly analog. I think that that remark was the dumbest I have heard for a wery long time. It can´t be the hardest thing to mark those tracks with an asterix in the playlists send to us. Furthermore spotify has the stomach to send it as recomended tracks. It realy stinks !

Please have a setting that filters out AI music. I am sick of getting AI music in my feeds and my "Discover Weekly". If I wanted to listen to AI music I would go generate it myself.

It should be obvious but Spotify needs to remove "Ai Artist" from it's platform like such as Bleeding Verse.

For starters, they are stealing other people's content WITHOUT CONSENT Majority of the time and that's so wrong on so many levels, especially morally. I get it that this company is kind of souless sometimes but **bleep** It grinds my gears to know it's allowed on here as someone who's been a user for roughly seven years now.

Secondly, you are being very unfriendly to the environment by allowing these people who use generative AI **bleep** up the planet even more.

Hahahah oh wow! 18 months! 18 months to finally, finally get a response from Spotify and it's nothing but a labeling scheme so they can avoid getting sued! A "solution" that ignores what was asked for in the first place and allows them to keep pumping your feeds full of ai slop! I cannot believe I stuck with you for so long when Deezer was right around the corner doing exactly what I wanted.

Sit tight everyone, here in just 12-24 months I'm sure they'll come up with another brilliant "introduction" to announce!
