Mark / Disable AI Generated Songs

The platform is increasingly flooded with AI-generated songs (especially the Release Radar), making it harder for users to discover authentic, human-created music. To improve the listening experience, Spotify should introduce a clear label for AI-generated songs and provide an option to filter them out entirely.

Hey folks!

We're seeing your feedback and, in this regard, we'd like to share some more info on the matter 🙂

Spotify is introducing clearer AI disclosures in the song credits, as well as stricter impersonation rules!
These updates will help protect artists’ identities, ensure royalties are distributed fairly, and give you - the listeners - more transparency.

Note that AI disclosures do not affect how the music is treated for recommendations.
For more info in regard to these new introductions, see the Newsroom article here.

That's all for now, folks! Stay tuned for possible updates in the future.

I absolutely support the need to BLOCK AI-generated "music". I've started getting suspicious, listening on my Discover Weekly playlist and hearing some bland inclusions that feel AI-generated. It's making me want to scrap Spotify and revisit my CD collection.

Yes, I have been turning to DJ sets on YouTube more and more to avoid all of the AI music on Spotify. Its difficult to be 100% certain but the Lofi, House, and focus playlists I listen to at work seem to be OVERRUN with AI album art, nonsense-named artists with no or vague bios, and generic music that sounds artificially manufactured. On top of this, this AI music is leaching the payout pool for real artists. Honestly, I think Spotify needs to figure out how to get a handle on this QUICKLY before they have the next pre-Musk twitter on their hands. I hope they take this seriously.

AI is getting out of hand. It’s crazy. It’s too much. Blocking at least two „artists“ every week in my new suggested playlist. It’s getting iseles

If Spotify team doesn’t give us the choice to

listen or not AI music, I will cancel my Spotify account and Paiement! It’s sad but true!

same experience. I block every ai generated artist and still getting my playlists flooded with ai generated**bleep** of genres I don't even listen to.

Hi there!

I’ve been a Premium subscriber for almost a decade now, and today was the day when I’ve seriously considered ending my subscription for the first time. I’ve been sticking to Spotify because of the enormous listening history I have here and the great algorithmic playlists (Discover Weekly, Release Radar, daylists, etc.) I have because of that.

However the amount of AI slop I’m getting on these is getting out of hand. My daylist at the moment has around 70% AI **bleep**, even though I’m actively blocking those “artists” every time they come up.

You seriously need to figure out a way to block these or at least give the option to people like me to filter them out (I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels like this).

I’m usually not the kind of person who complains on a support forum, but I need a place to vent about this.

AI music is now reaching a very distracting saturation point on this platform.

The first music streaming platform to ban AI generated music will be the one I jump to.

Didn't see this post at first so I made a post too, so adding that here instead

I'd like a filter option, similar to blocking explicit songs, that blocks songs that are made with AI. This would include songs whose music and/or singing is generated by AI, as well as those whose lyrics or music is written with AI. Perhaps it would block artists who have AI songs entirely, since if they have some songs that are AI, it's likely most or all are.

If you want to get fancy with it, there could be levels of filtering. Like, "block all AI content", "block songs whose audio is generated by AI", "block songs written or composed by AI", "block artists who have one or more AI generated songs", etc

Today in one of my daylists, there were about 6 songs that I'm fairly confident were generated by AI. One time there were several in my Discover Weekly playlist. I don't want them. I've been blocking the artists as I figure out they're AI, but it's somewhat easy for people to produce songs this way, so I'm sure there's a lot out there, or will be soon. Plus it can be tricky to tell sometimes. So far ALL of these accounts have been marked as Verified Artists.

For some context, or fyi, here are some songs I'm pretty confident are generated by AI.

The easiest way for me to tell is the singing, it has sort of an aerated sound, and of course sounds a bit distorted in places. I also look at the names, and the band info, pictures, album art. If the art or description seems AI, the song probably is too imo. Also look at if the band description mentions any people, or only the band name, or talks about them like a music reviewer might, that's very ChatGPT-esque. The lyrics can also be a bit wonky, like the lines don't really go together, or they don't quite fit the meter.

Just get rid if the AI DJ, the AI Wrapped “podcast”, and any other phony, anthropomorphized AI gimmicks.

We need more authentic humans, and fewer corporate fakes, frauds, and deceits.
