Mark / Disable AI Generated Songs

The platform is increasingly flooded with AI-generated songs (especially the Release Radar), making it harder for users to discover authentic, human-created music. To improve the listening experience, Spotify should introduce a clear label for AI-generated songs and provide an option to filter them out entirely.

Hey folks!

We're seeing your feedback and, in this regard, we'd like to share some more info on the matter 🙂

Spotify is introducing clearer AI disclosures in the song credits, as well as stricter impersonation rules!
These updates will help protect artists’ identities, ensure royalties are distributed fairly, and give you - the listeners - more transparency.

Note that AI disclosures do not affect how the music is treated for recommendations.
For more info in regard to these new introductions, see the Newsroom article here.

That's all for now, folks! Stay tuned for possible updates in the future.

given how aggressively spotify is pushing AI music to cut revenue from actual human artists, i find this extremely unlikely to happen

And please note that any response on the lines that songs are added only when our taste corresponds to any song is simply unacceptable. You are actively supporting AI music producers and feeding them our listening data, they create the songs and you then add more and more ofthese songs to our lists like the Discovery playlist and the daily lists. This will simply drive people to other platforms, so I would accept that the money you save on royalties will not be worth the lost subscribers.

How do you decide what is AI and what is only partially AI? A filter system can easily manage the task and genuine songwriters and groups could appeal any mistakes.

The majority of these songs are very easy to spot and filter, the problem is that you are allowing more and more AI content into lists, especially the Discovery playlist.

Personally, I will simply stop listening to the Discovery playlist. Why should I spend my time blocking song after song?

Make this an optional service as everyone here is suggesting and you can continue producing billions of plastic reggae and soul and jazz and all the rest, but we won't have to listen to it. Simple.

This is not the only comment on this. There are a lot of people really fed up with AI songs flooding their playlists!

We need an opt out button/filter!!!

This is an absolute no-brainer and I'm shocked AI music can be pushed by suggestions without anything to inform the user. One is art, the other one is recycled acoustical waste. Spotify should understand this more than other companies who have also invested more than they should have on AI.

Spotify is built on the premise that it facilitates discovering new music and artists. I feel like ai music disguised as actual music may make this premise fall apart completely. For now it is fairly easy to recognize ai music, once ai will be good enough to become hard to distinguish i will have to limit myself to songs i know. At that point i may as well just start managing my own library like i used to in the past.

I just want an AI blocker similar to an explicit blocker. I never want to spend a second of my life on AI content.

Part of the bad press AI is getting is not just because it's a bad thing. It's because it's not reviled to us, right or wrong, It should be highlighted so we understand the source and we can decide. The publisher would be held responsible for the info.As are news providers with disclaimers and corrections. Also there should be a choice up front. A bot's unchallenged opinion is no better than Donald T's.

There are many reasons AI could be very beneficial. If it could be verified and trusted. Unlike a email spam advertisement

Yes, music generated by AI sounds like music, but the algorithm learned from real music, which has been and continues to be the work of humans for centuries. Generated music that takes everything from music previously created by humans must be 100% tagged; this is fundamental. Therefore, do it quickly, because there's no point in paying Spotify for something you can generate yourself at any scale.
