[Mobile] [Other] Smart Shuffle toggle setting in settings menu

Smart shuffle is a fun way to discover new songs, but it comes at a cost. Want to reshuffle your queue? Bam, wait a few seconds longer. Want to unshuffle your playlist? Bam, no longer works, and goes to a completely random place in the playlist.

To me this is an unwanted complication, and I'd much rather be able to choose in the settings menu whether I want to enable the Smart Shuffle feature, or disable it.

Leaving Spotify now due to this.  It’s been too long, too many requests for this ‘feature’ to be removed and allow the users to enjoy the music they like without marketing influence.  Adios Spotify.  Good luck.

I came here because I just noticed smart shuffle is now the first click.  It really shows how much this team couldn't care less about its customers.  No one asked for this, but they gave it to us anyway.  Then we complain, and time passes with no action.  Actually, there has been action on this.  They made it the first shuffle click to really rub it in.  I think it's to confuse unsuspecting people so they can say, "Look at all the people who use it now!" because they don't know any better.

All I want to do is turn shuffle on and off in my playlists when I please. I don't want to have to make sure I click twice or wait to confirm it's not in a smart shuffle mode because I clicked too fast while it was loading. Come on, Spotify. Money looks good when people are still subscribed, but sooner or later, that goodwill will be gone.

smart shuffle is the single worst feature Spotify has put out in the last half a decade by two miles

TWO MILES?! Goodness me.

There is no point in curating your own playlist, to then have an algorithm insert songs you would never include on it.
I detest smart shuffle. Give us the option to permanently disable it in settings, or abandon it entirely as a bad idea.
turn it off.

I have absolutely no interest in this feature. Please let me turn it off permanently/ignore it. Or at least make it a separate button so I don't have to cycle past it when I want to turn on a standard shuffle. For goodness's sake, please don't make it the first option when I click/tap on the shuffle button and change the way this software I've been using and paying for for years and years works.

I was listening to my Monkey Business playlist that has songs referencing monkeys/apes/evolution/etc. And then this song I'm unfamiliar with started playing and I'm like, "Why is this on here? Did I drag this here by accident?" I checked the lyrics and it had absolutely nothing to do with monkeys.

Please. This defeats the purpose of a personally curated, private playlist. Playlists that work the way playlists have worked since I was using Winamp in high school. I'm not saying there's not room for this feature and other innovations. But please don't mess with the basic, expected functionality of the program/app. It might be cool to have a button that stopped playback after the current track finished, but you wouldn't REPLACE the stop/pause button with that and not give users the option to customize it, right?

Please prove you care about what your users actually want for once rather than force-feeding us unwanted new features that presumably only exist to pad your bottom line because you think we're too lazy/attached to cancel our subscriptions. You may be right in many cases, but that's such a despicable way to do business. Why not be the service that people want to use and speak highly of because it's user-friendly?

I understand that people are unlikely to try new features if they have to enable them to do so, so I can even accept if you automatically turn them on to introduce them to me. But PLEASE give me the option to disable/hide/etc. intrusive features that I don't want!

I recently moved my family account to spotify from apple music. This feature makes me consider moving back. I detest this funktionality. I see no reason to have it at all. There is a reason I don't have the other music in my playlists.......

Smart Shuffle also disables turning off shuffle when your phone is in offline mode. Since Smart shuffle can only be used when online, if I've downloaded a playlist and want to change shuffle, the app tries to switch to smart shuffle, fails because offline, and reverts back to normal shuffle. At the very least the app should know to skip smart shuffle if it isn't online and change the shuffle status to normal or no shuffle, instead of locking you into shuffle.

But even better would be a toggle to permanently disable smart shuffle. There has yet to be a situation where I've wanted "smart" shuffle. If I want to add songs to a playlist, I will use the recommendations part beneath the playlist so I can listen to them beforehand, instead of random songs being added with no input or screening from me.

The fact that this have to be a suggestion from the community...

This is just as stupid as the whole debacle when Spotify released and the program continued to run in the background when closed by default.

Introduce new feaures! But do not replace fundemental functions with new features and no way to opt out.

Why does Smart shuffle still exist? It gets in the way, if I want other music I'll add it myself, that is the idea of a playlist.. its my play list, not my play list and some other random additions. For the love of all that is holy please fix this with a setting toggle. its all of about 30 seconds of code work to add...
