Smart shuffle is a fun way to discover new songs, but it comes at a cost. Want to reshuffle your queue? Bam, wait a few seconds longer. Want to unshuffle your playlist? Bam, no longer works, and goes to a completely random place in the playlist.

To me this is an unwanted complication, and I'd much rather be able to choose in the settings menu whether I want to enable the Smart Shuffle feature, or disable it.

Most of us know how the feature works, and we don't like it the way it's currently implemented. Personally, this is what I hope Spotify will do to fix this debacle:

1. Restore the functionality of the shuffle button to ONLY toggle shuffle mode.
2. Give $mart $huff£e its own dedicated button.
3. Allow paying customers to completely disable $mart $huff£e throughout the app, regardless of platform (android, iOS, PC, Mac, PlayStation, Xbox, etc.). This would include removal of the dedicated $mart $huffle button.

Please let us know if Spotify plans to address any of the above. Until then, I'm sticking with Amazon Music Unlimited or another service such as Apple Music.

This overrides in my car constantly and I can't turn it off. I hate any feature that forcibly adds music to my Playlist. Every iteration of this is sucked. May as well go back to Pandora

So its been over a year since this has been proposed and it still pisses me off on the daily.

Shuffle has been the same for DECADES as a TOGGLE, now there is a 3rd option that somehow comes up first (what kind of UX decision is that?!?). This is seriously a terrible UX decision, if anything it should be a separate toggle button, and the fact that it can't be disabled makes me want to cancel spotify. Youtube music isn't that bad, they just don't have a decent app, and your app is starting to get filled with stupid features and obnoxious popups.

Please add an option to disable this feature. This is the 10th highest voted feature request and has gone unimplemented for over 15 months. The entire scope of the feature is to add a single checkbox. An intern could do it for you in 2 weeks. The feature can stay on by default. Just make it possible to opt out.

The current approach is incredibly heavy-handed. *Every* time I enter or exit shuffle, I have to skip over this unwanted AI slop. Just make it possible to opt out.

There are 615 million monthly active users of Spotify. If each of them spends a single second per month skipping over this "feature", that works out to about 7 billion person-seconds of wasted time per year. For reference, there are about 3 billion seconds in a human lifetime. By forcing this AI slop onto everyone, you are plausibly consuming 2 human lifetimes worth of time per year.

Let me be clear. This feature sucks. I didn't ask for it. I don't want it. It's very obvious that this feature is not for me, but for Wall Street. I resent that as a paying customer, I am being manipulated like this.

Do not manipulate me for engagement. Do not force unwanted trash down my throat. I'm already giving you lots of money. Just be a good MP3 player and stay out of my way.

Add the checkbox.

It would be a good idea if it wasn't constantly defaulting to it... I cannot tell you the amount of times I have turned it off and it reverted to smart shuffle. I never choose to use it, I like my playlists, that is why I made them....

PLEASE READ our comments here, we are not asking how to use the Smart Shuffle feature!

WE KNOW IT AND WE HATE IT!

This unwanted Smart Shuffle feature is causing significant frustration. It's not only incredibly buggy but also completely unhelpful. I'm forced to use it daily, and every single time, it takes multiple retries and delays to make it work—on both desktop and mobile versions.

The regular Shuffle feature is already unreliable, repeatedly playing the same few songs. But Smart Shuffle is even worse. Not once have I wanted to use this feature, yet it keeps re-enabling itself after I explicitly remove it. Despite seeing the message "Smart Shuffle recommendation removed," it somehow stays on. This forces me to constantly click, wait, and double-check every time I switch between normal and shuffle modes.

This is unacceptable. Please ensure this issue is fixed immediately or at least provide an option to disable Smart Shuffle entirely!

Hey! It looks like your suggestion is growing up fast and it's amazing! We are going to change its status to 'Good Suggestion' now

about time to impliment this : over a year you update this to good suggestion, more then 6000 votes ! so what will the next status update be? not right now 😞 or implimented) 

but i guess like someone posted in another related forum : "Smart shuffle probably has some advertising value to spotify. More than likely artists/producers using it to promote music" so i don't expect it to disable it. But have to decensy to tell peope that the option will remain. 

if they don't remove the smart shuffle at least change the color of the button : green for smart shuffle; any other color for normal shuffle ; the small star in the same color is almost nog visible and caused mistakes often already

Begging for a setting to toggle smart shuffle off. Half the time it lags, so you think you've disabled it, then random songs start playing, turn it off and now its ruined my queue 🙂 Please get it gone, I've literally never had the use for this anyway
