[Mobile] [Other] Smart Shuffle toggle setting in settings menu

Smart shuffle is a fun way to discover new songs, but it comes at a cost. Want to reshuffle your queue? Bam, wait a few seconds longer. Want to unshuffle your playlist? Bam, no longer works, and goes to a completely random place in the playlist.

To me this is an unwanted complication, and I'd much rather be able to choose in the settings menu whether I want to enable the Smart Shuffle feature, or disable it.

Smart shuffle paired with meh streaming quality has me trialling Tidal. Something tells me when the trial period ends, this thread won’t be relevant to me anymore.

I hate Smart Shuffle. It is annoying and I'd like to disable it completely.

Stop this smart shuffle junk. I can’t even disable it? Tried to load when I have bad service. Also it’s just bad. Let me disable it!!!! Soooooo annoying. Been a paying Spotify customer for awhile, but wow this is so frustrating.

I can see it has been ages since this feature has been suggested. Since nothing has changed for so many months, I am here to remind the app designers that it is still bothering me, so much that I found this forum, and I would like to hear an update.

What needs to happen for its status to be changed to "Under consideration??" What more can we do to increase its chances of being implemented?

I am starting to suspect that you are ignoring us.

Hi, what needs to be done to see any reaction on this growing number of complaints on this badly done UX? I assume you get money for those unwanted entries, thus only less paying customers will let you listen. Clearly said: I am not listening to Spotify anymore on my mobile as this is not a feature, but a bug (btw in offline mode it even says it’s a mistake, do you have a quality check???).

I think it would be nice if there was a setting to turn off the smart shuffle function so that when you press the shuffle button it only goes between the regular order of the music being played and the shuffled order.

  • Smat shuffle is incredibly annoying. I would like the option to permanently disable it on my account. I feel like theres no reason to use my playlist because every 4 songs smart shuffle turns on. I already use release radar and discover weekly. Thats where i go when i want new music. I dont want to pay gor the ability to choose my music if the app is constantly going to emable a feature i dont like and introduce music that i do not feel like listening to.

For me the smart shuffle option also is completely unnecessary. Furthermore, as I mostly shuffle my liked song playlist with over 3000 songs the app actually crashes when trying to remove the smart shuffle feature. This, however, also happens in much shorter playlists.
Therefore, I would very much appreciate it if there was an option in the settings to permanently turn off smart-shuffle and to be able to switch between shuffle and normal order.

It's very clear that smart shuffle was a terrible idea. Stop trying to oush that on every one and at least make it a separate button on the dropdown menu of a song or something do it stops bothering people. Nobody likes activating shuffle and having to double check if that was indeed the "correct" shuffle, or realizing they activated the wrong one when some random music you hate starts playing. At the very least, give people an option to get rid of smart shuffle once and for all on their apps, nobody likes this feature. Among all absurd ideas Spotify has forced on us, this is the one that made me seriously consider terminating my account.
