Smart shuffle is a fun way to discover new songs, but it comes at a cost. Want to reshuffle your queue? Bam, wait a few seconds longer. Want to unshuffle your playlist? Bam, no longer works, and goes to a completely random place in the playlist.

To me this is an unwanted complication, and I'd much rather be able to choose in the settings menu whether I want to enable the Smart Shuffle feature, or disable it.

Tbh i've noticed it in so many apps.

Every single time they add a controversial function, and there is no way to toggle it.

Why has it become such a complex thing to add a toggle for things?

Fairly new Spotify user here, and the "smart" shuffle is probably the most disappointing service ever experienced on mobile. I want to shuffle my liked songs, not have it "polluted" by dross that makes me have to block songs and hope that Spotify gets the point after x blocks of certain artists.

How such a successful service can have such a terrible offering, is just beyond belief.

I've just come back to Spotify in the last few days because I was unhappy with the offering on Apple Music but I will sadly also be passing on Spotify and cancelling my premium membership if they don't allow for the removal of this terrible Smart Shuffle feature. Incredibly buggy, annoying, unnecessary, please remove at once if you don't want to lose another customer (from the comments here it sounds like you've been losing plenty already)

On mobile, it is now the only free option. You need premium if you want to do "regular shuffle" and "play by order." It is very unfortunate. ;(

Enhance playlist can stay. Smart shuffle seriously needs to go. The number of times this is unable to turn off with one click seriously frustrates me and all the time. And now on the computer app I go to click shuffle and I am asked if I want smart shuffle. PLEASE REMOVE THIS

Cycle through the shuffle options. It should cycle through shuffle off, shuffle on, and smart shuffle. When smart shuffle was introduced, everyone's shuffle was defaulted to 'smart shuffle.'

I guess Spotify thought people would rather have 'smart shuffle' than an actual shuffle option that applies to playlists over 150 songs.

I entirely agree with everything stated. If they really want it to be there it should be a separate button

I have been using Spotfiy for more than 10 years. For the love of god or any other deity you pray to, please, put an option in the settings to disable smart shuffle. It can be enabled by default, doesn't really matter. I just want control over the songs I listen to. I am already being very picky with my playlist. Every time I start a new listening session, I have to waste extra 2 minutes to properly disable smart shuffle, enable shuffle, and then finally start playing.
