[Mobile] [Other] Smart Shuffle toggle setting in settings menu

Smart shuffle is a fun way to discover new songs, but it comes at a cost. Want to reshuffle your queue? Bam, wait a few seconds longer. Want to unshuffle your playlist? Bam, no longer works, and goes to a completely random place in the playlist.

To me this is an unwanted complication, and I'd much rather be able to choose in the settings menu whether I want to enable the Smart Shuffle feature, or disable it.

Hey! It looks like your suggestion is growing up fast and it's amazing! We are going to change its status to 'Good Suggestion' now and we hope it continues being supported by more and more users.
Thanks again for your suggestion. We really appreciate it 🙂

Smart shuffle is the worst feature I have ever encountered in any software I've ever used. It sucks so bad and it slays me that is has been around for so long. Please give me the option to disable this awful feature. Please God

This feature is such an annoyance to me. It's automatically on when I set something to shuffle, and then it keeps going back to smart shuffle. If I wanted related/similar music I would just listen to the daylist. It's so much better to hit shuffle and know you'll get Just the songs on the playlist. I'm not here for a radio, I'm here for specific songs.

It's interesting that I can bypass the smart shuffle function entirely by simply using Ctrl. + S in the desktop version. Would be wonderful if they simply allowed us to disable the function altogether in the settings.

Yes, add a way to disable this in the settings, it's just an irritant and I cannot see why a simple menu toggle to disable the feature couldn't be added. It could even be off by default - what does Spotify Corp stand to gain by denying this extra settings toggle?

It grosses me out every time I have to click through "smart" shuffle knowing that some weird algorithm is putting their creepy paws all over my lovingly curated playlists. It's like when Apple put U2 on everyone's phones. Have some decency. Stop being weird. And if you insist on being weird, at least give me the option to enjoy my music unmolested.

It’s been over a year, any progress? Smart Shuffle is annoying and not user-friendly. It creates friction for no reason

It literally took screenshots of the Shuffle / Smart Shufle icons on the Desktop app and then doubling them in size to discover that they were in fact not identical. The Smart Shuffle icon has a diamond in the upper left corner insteead of a line. On a smartphone screen, the icons are tiny and look identical.

Also make the Smart Shuffle icon blue, this interface is simply misleads the user into thinking ordinary Shuffle is active, when it isn't.

How is this at almost 7,000 votes and not under consideration?!

The fact that this has thousands of thumbs up, and 95 pages of comments a year later should really show you how much people hate this "feature". Seeing how Spotify ignores its users desires, I think it is time to switch to one of the numerous competitors.

Dear Spotify:

Smart Shuffle is a nuisance; it is confusingly/misleadingly designed, with kludgy implementation, and your community management/engagement efforts have left/are leaving much to be desired. The result is a seriously degraded/damaged user experience. I am starting to associate the Spotify brand with very bad/unpleasant things most every time I use the app. This is not a good indicator for your 'good will' valuation metrics..

Enough!

Fix this broken part of the user experience.

Please and thank you.
