[Mobile] Remove current Song from Playlist

Hi

This is a usability improvement for the Mobile devices. Sometimes I want to remove songs from a playlist. This is currently quite a long task to perform on the mobile device.

  1. I first have to select the right playlist.
  2. Then I have to locate the song, which is not listed alphabetically. They are listed in the order I built the playlist with the oldest first and newest last. Some of my playlists have up to 900 songs in them and scrolling slowly can be difficult and timeconsuming.
  3. Then click on the "pencil" icon and  delete the track I don't want.

I think it would be a better user experience if we could delete songs as easy as it is to add them to a playlist.

So here's a suggestion for the mobile app, look there's even a space for it on the info page! Smiley LOL

Spotify Delete Track Idea

Cheers

UPDATE 3 June 2017

I have been contacted by user eviljojo22 who has developed a Plugin that creates a playlist named "Remove from Spotify" and every 45 minutes minutes it deletes every song in it and also in every playlist in which that same song appears (which may not be what you want). However, this is an option that may help you before Spotify gets round to providing this very simple function. Good luck (and Thank you EvilJojo22)

UPDATE 7 February 2019

I have been contacted by user bamboony who has developed an android app that might solve the problem in the short term:

Hey folks,

If you'd like to remove the song that's currently playing on Android devices, you can quickly get to it by tapping the title of the playlist (located in the top center of the screen). This will open the playlist and the current song will be highlighted in green. From there, you can tap the three-dot menu and select "Remove from this playlist".

We'll keep this idea open and if there are any updates about adding a remove song button to the menu on the 'Now Playing View' or if we have some news regarding this option on iOS devices, we'll post them here. Remember that you can still add your votes here if this is something you'd like to see in the future.

Thanks!

We can edit the playlist like @apertotes has said, but thia way is not easy. Looking for a song in playlist with hundreds is hard. That’s why I suggested to create an option to either slide the song (left or right) and the just click on a button “remove”. Don’t you think that would be easier?

I totally agree with you.  I hope the developers are taking heed to our recommendations

I've been bugging them on twitter at @spotify and @spotifycares (ha!) from time to time as well.

The Remove from Spotify playlist in this thread works well.
Ridiculous that it had to be developed by someone else and that it’s necessary at all
U just add song to that playlist and it is deleted within an hour.

Yeah, but that's not going to work for me. I want it removed from the
playlist I'm listening to, not from everywhere. I may like the song, but
just not want it in the playlist I'm listening to...

Does Spotify even read users comments and suggestions?? This seems to be a
long standing problem that they don't address. What give Spotify?
Nathananderson
They said they’re not planning on adding it, but don’t say why

Hi,

On iOS (mobile) when being in playlist the "three dots" meniu (next to song) doesn't have "Remove" feature/option.

In order to remove the song you have to edit playlist -> find/browse for the song wanted to be remove -> and remove it.

If playlist is long that is a very NOT user-friendly and convenient task to do...

I think it should be quite easy to add that extra option "Remove" to that "three dots" meniu next to song in the playlist and - wualia!!! - this way user could quite quickly remove the song.

That would lead to much better user-experience.

Thank you.

I do not find REMOVE under the three dots

What's happened with that update mentioned above? I don't even see that "Remove" button on my iphone-- in its place, instead, I have one that says +Save. If I want to actually remove a song from a playlist, I have to hit the three-dot button, scroll down to "Add to playlist", add the song to a playlist I set aside called Rejected, then wait until I get home and get onto my desktop, then look up the songs in my Rejected playlist, then remember which playlist I was using earlier for each one, then find them in that playlist (sort by title, scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll, then scroll scroll scroll to the next one) and remove them that way-- and THEN remove that song from the Rejected playlist as well so I don't try to find the wrong ones again. A 9-stage process; I feel like I'm doing the hokey-pokey, shake it all about-- argh!
