[Mobile] Remove current Song from Playlist

Hi

This is a usability improvement for the Mobile devices. Sometimes I want to remove songs from a playlist. This is currently quite a long task to perform on the mobile device.

  1. I first have to select the right playlist.
  2. Then I have to locate the song, which is not listed alphabetically. They are listed in the order I built the playlist with the oldest first and newest last. Some of my playlists have up to 900 songs in them and scrolling slowly can be difficult and timeconsuming.
  3. Then click on the "pencil" icon and  delete the track I don't want.

I think it would be a better user experience if we could delete songs as easy as it is to add them to a playlist.

So here's a suggestion for the mobile app, look there's even a space for it on the info page! Smiley LOL

Spotify Delete Track Idea

Cheers

UPDATE 3 June 2017

I have been contacted by user eviljojo22 who has developed a Plugin that creates a playlist named "Remove from Spotify" and every 45 minutes minutes it deletes every song in it and also in every playlist in which that same song appears (which may not be what you want). However, this is an option that may help you before Spotify gets round to providing this very simple function. Good luck (and Thank you EvilJojo22)

UPDATE 7 February 2019

I have been contacted by user bamboony who has developed an android app that might solve the problem in the short term:

UPDATE 15 February 2022

They delivered! This feature now exists. Click the three dots while playing a track and select the option "Remove from this Playlist"

Updated on 2022-07-19

Hey folks,

If you'd like to remove the song that's currently playing on Android devices, you can quickly get to it by tapping the title of the playlist (located in the top center of the screen). This will open the playlist and the current song will be highlighted in green. From there, you can tap the three-dot menu and select "Remove from this playlist".

We'll keep this idea open and if there are any updates about adding a remove song button to the menu on the 'Now Playing View' or if we have some news regarding this option on iOS devices, we'll post them here. Remember that you can still add your votes here if this is something you'd like to see in the future.

Thanks!

Wherever this screenshot from the update comes from, I don’t have this feature on the latest Android version. Where do I vote for this? This has been for years now and it’s a small change with a major impact for a lot of people, according to this thread.

Hi i am using the android app, and the provided solutions do not work for me. In the playing now window when I tap the song name it just jumps to my last position in the playlist, not the currently playing song. And if I tap the three dots of the currently playing song I do not get the option to remove the song from the playlist. Why does this post claim the feature has been introduced in February?

Tab the playlist name at the top of your mobile screen, instead of the song name. That seems to bring me to the song's place in the current playlist.

that doesn't seem to work...but i wish it did!

@BreeBliss, @bratzel, read the status update of 2022-07-19 (the one with the 2 screenshots) at the very top of this topic. It gives you an accurate descriptions of the steps to take (note the annotations in red on these screenshots). It also says that this does not work on iOS.

So while it does work on Android (I'm using the function often), I still can't believe the people at Spotify think this is a good implementation.

Spotify Glenn Gould notes

These are the songs Spotify refuses to delete from Glenn Gould/ pianist playlist. There’s a serious problem because they don’t allow “hide song” or appear in history. The playlist has been hijacked and I've written to Spotify numerous times about this. All I get is "post to the community". Fail.

I am truly perplexed by this all. I'm on iOS and I have had this feature for months, if not a year or two it seems. I posted on this thread years ago because I wanted to put in my vote for this obviously essential feature, but as I kept getting emails saying people were still replying to this thread long after the feature was added to the app, I was stumped. Had to check it out.

Can any iOS users (or anyone else) sound off on this??

PS. take in it's been ten years since OP!

That first screenshot is so nostalgic xD

I would like to be able to delete a song from my playlist in the player. Currently if i want to remove a song I need to to scroll through my playlist & find the song playing & delete it. Very hard to find when you have over 200 songs in a playlist.

crandrade

This is needed for the desktop app, and most importantly, for Spotify-made-for-me playlists (like Wrapped)

This is nuts that there are over 86 pages of comments about this topic.  And, there is still NOT an answer to remove the song from a playlist.  I have WAY too many songs in this playlist.  I've looked for this 1 song 3 times now, and still can't find it to remove it.  I've clicked on everything I can and still can't remove it no matter what I try to do.  I wish there were a way to search within the playlist.
