[Mobile] Remove current Song from Playlist

Hi

This is a usability improvement for the Mobile devices. Sometimes I want to remove songs from a playlist. This is currently quite a long task to perform on the mobile device.

  1. I first have to select the right playlist.
  2. Then I have to locate the song, which is not listed alphabetically. They are listed in the order I built the playlist with the oldest first and newest last. Some of my playlists have up to 900 songs in them and scrolling slowly can be difficult and timeconsuming.
  3. Then click on the "pencil" icon and  delete the track I don't want.

I think it would be a better user experience if we could delete songs as easy as it is to add them to a playlist.

So here's a suggestion for the mobile app, look there's even a space for it on the info page! Smiley LOL

Spotify Delete Track Idea

Cheers

UPDATE 3 June 2017

I have been contacted by user eviljojo22 who has developed a Plugin that creates a playlist named "Remove from Spotify" and every 45 minutes minutes it deletes every song in it and also in every playlist in which that same song appears (which may not be what you want). However, this is an option that may help you before Spotify gets round to providing this very simple function. Good luck (and Thank you EvilJojo22)

UPDATE 7 February 2019

I have been contacted by user bamboony who has developed an android app that might solve the problem in the short term:

Hey Folks,

Since 2012, there are a couple of features that speed up removing songs from playlists.

On Android, you can find tracks quickly by clicking the three dot menu in the playlist and heading to the 'Find in Playlist' option - this will bring a search bar where you can type the name of the song or artist. On iPhone, you can find the search bar by pulling down on the Playlist screen. Once you've found the track, you can click the three dots next to the song and click 'Remove from this Playlist' - even whilst the track is playing. The song will continue, but be removed from the playlist.

From the playlist menu you can also sort your playlist by Title, Recently Added, Artist, Album or Custom.

We'll keep this idea open and if there are any updates about adding a remove song button to the menu on the 'Now Playing View', we'll post them here.

Thanks!

If the song is currently playing, on Android, on the Now Playing screen, you can tap the name of the playlist at the top of the screen, and you'll get taken to the playlist, and it'll scroll down to the song that is currently playing, and select it.

On iOS, this doesn't happen. All they need to do is make it work the same way on iOS.

Spotify's weakness is keeping all their apps on all their various platforms in sync.

It's the weakness of most companies, when their employees have to work together and stay in sync. Different people work on each app, I'm sure.

Where are you guys finding this? There isn't any option in the three dots
on my device? Is there a new update that is being released that i haven't
gotten yet?

I just updated the app and I'm not seeing the option. There's only "remove from playlist" option that was there before then you tapped on a song from a playlist, not from now playing.

It might be not available for every app store country yet, I am in Spain
and it works for me.

Two weeks later and I still don't have the "Remove from this playlist" option in the menu of the "Now Playing" screen. I'm on Spotify version 8.6.2.774 on Android. What version are you on (e.g. @fedost) ?

Make sure it’s in a playlist that you have created. If it’s one that was created by someone else, you won’t have the option.

Hi! I came here exactly for this feature. I can't find the "Find in playlist" option names int eh official response and, since 99% of the time I spend on Spotify is listening to and managing playlists, I would really like to have this "Delete from playlist" option. The app knows what song is playing and which playlist I am listening to so I don,t think it would be that hard to give this option to users. It could even show directly in the interface in the form of an icon of a list with an X over it.

They are rolling out a fix for this and I have already actually gotten it. So long as it is a playlist that you have created personally, then it is now an option to ‘delete current song from this playlist’ via the 3-dots. FINALLY! I’m not sure if this has been rolled out world wide yet, but it will be soon. Make sure you are on the latest version of Spotify and then recheck. Hope this helps. Cheers!
