More than 10,000 songs per playlist

It's simple really. My go-to playlist has hit 10,000 songs, and now that I can't add more it feels like the enjoyment of Spotify is slipping through my hands. It may sound ridiculous. "There's no way you can listen to all that music." or maybe another outrageous statement to respond to this. But hitting shuffle on the playlist and being able to let it dish out tracks day by day is a certain type of feeling I truly love about Spotify. My history of adding music for about 10 years now has came to an abrupt halt. It's truly a depressing feeling. Even if someone reading this doesn't think they'll ever reach 10,000 songs, just have some empathy for those who love piling all their music under one roof. Just so you can hit shuffle play and enjoy a little time capsule.

I'm not 100 percent sure that this will work but your situation sounds like pending doom. I would need to test it properly and while i'm setting up I will talk you through the process.

Step 1 is to create a new folder I will name this folder Master

Step 2 Inside that folder I will create a new folder and call that Island. Inside that folder I will create 2 reggae playlists

Step 3 I will create new folder inside Master and call that House. Inside house i will  create 2 EDM playlists

Step 4 I will create a new folder inside Master and call that Kiwi. I will create one playlist inside Kiwi which I put 3 songs from my brother (every playlist has 3 songs). I will load another playlist inside Kiwi with 3 songs from Mazbou Q, a UK born artist who has lived in NZ since he was at primary school.

Step 5 I created a new folder called New. In that I have 1 playlist with 3 country songs and another with 2 instrumentals followed by one Rap song.

Now I believe it's set to test this theory. I will open a playlist outside of Master and put that on shuffle. Ver carefully making sure i'm on shuffle not smart shuffle.

The second last step is I navigate through my library to Master put my curser over the folder and press play

The sad part is it played the instrument playlist followed by the country playlist

Then I rechecked my phone and i wasnt on shuffle. Now I have a reggae track followed by Mazbou followed by another reggae an edm reggae instrumental.

So it appears to be working and randomly moving between folders and playlists

A solution

Everything worked as I hoped, according to my previous post.

Initial testing

The set up was complicated by the need to thoroughly test what I'll now call "Root folder playback"

Re-tested

I increased playlist sizes to ten songs each. The playback was still randomly distributed.

Simplified setup

In the case of you nearing your 10,000 song limit. You don't need to create multiple playlists inside multiple folders inside the root folder.

You only need to place two folders in the root folder and create a playlist inside each. They will split your playlist to 4500+ each.

This is a hack

This is not a perfect solution because it does have some quirks. It is a work around.

I will attach my test results using 2 X 96 track playlists, which for our purpose here are named playlist A and B. The tracks played are identified by playlist (name)+(position)
