[Music] Custom Start & Ending Times for a Track

Hi.

I'm a big electronic music lover and there is only one feature i would like added to spotify. The option to choose a part of the track i would like to play and have the settings saved.

In the world of electronic music there is almost allways 2-3 minute build ups, and not many radio mixes of each track.

This can be a problem when having a party and a track lasts for 7 minutes with 3 of them is a buildup that not everyone would like to listen to.

It would be nice to have a feature like this that i can change on each track, just drag 2 buttons to a start and end point. and maybe have a 3-5 second fade on where i choose to set them.

Made a quick illustration on what i mean. Spotify proposition.jpg

seriously ridiculous its been 8 years and its still in progress. its so funny, they have the tech already, its already implemented for the spotify generated playlists, they just dont let us access it.

Hello everyone!

I decided to create an app to help with this problem. It's called Trimify and you can download the beta right now on Android.

The app connects to the Spotify app on your Android device and automatically skips according to the start/end times you set.

During the beta, any feedback would be extremely helpful. Please give it a try!

Tried your Trimify and It's pretty awesome - keep it up!

Spotify,

Can this still be implemented? I understand that there is a new UI, but a feature like this is very much a must and is currently actually available by open-source adjustments (see https://github.com/khanhas/spicetify-cli). Might as well implement it as an official feature and gain an edge over other streaming services.

Hi Spotify! It's been almost 9 years now... I'd say it's about time to pioneer a feature that more than 2,000 users are interested in. Heck, if you act now, you might even beat Apple to it. Though, I hear this technology might already be available on Apple Music? Might have to hop ship...

For those who can’t wait for the official version of this feature, I have written a simple extension for Spicetify-cli that can be found here: https://github.com/jkohlin/custom-in-out/
It’s a little bit buggy but actually works 😊

9 years, no dice. Ridiculous.

I would also like to see this feature implemented.

Every time I need to scrub through a song to find where the music starts or need to manually skip to next song because the music ended I think about why wasn't this feature implemented yet.

This is such a great idea! I'm making a playlist for my dad for Fathers Day and in the past I would have recorded perhaps the intro of a track or something on to tape or trimmed a track down to add a chunk between tracks on a CD. This year I'm making a playlist on spotify which I introduced him to and know he loves. Its such a shame I cant add just the first few seconds of a track at the beginning as it would be perfect to kick off the set. Ahh well, I guess the art of making the perfect mixtape for friends and families truly does die with Spotify, a small price to pay? perhaps not.

Along with the option to add song to a playlist, there should be a feature to add only a specific part/snippet of the selected song to the playlist.

Whether this be by specifying the start and end time marker of the snippet you actually want added and then only that part of the song gets actually added. Or there should be the option to edit a song in a current playlist to limit it to the time markers so that although the entirety of the song is still there, only the snippet is played when you play the playlist, until you change it the time markers again.

This way, in playlists you can listen to parts of songs that you like without having to skip through parts that you don't like as much. For example, if you create an playlist for a certain mood, if you like a song but only a certain part of it reflects that mood, you have the ability to add and listen to just that part when its in the playlist.
