[Music] Custom Start & Ending Times for a Track

Hi.

I'm a big electronic music lover and there is only one feature i would like added to spotify. The option to choose a part of the track i would like to play and have the settings saved.

In the world of electronic music there is almost allways 2-3 minute build ups, and not many radio mixes of each track.

This can be a problem when having a party and a track lasts for 7 minutes with 3 of them is a buildup that not everyone would like to listen to.

It would be nice to have a feature like this that i can change on each track, just drag 2 buttons to a start and end point. and maybe have a 3-5 second fade on where i choose to set them.

Made a quick illustration on what i mean. Spotify proposition.jpg

SPOTIFY: Is there any planned development for this idea?? We want to define custom track start/end times and/or customizable crossfading!
I have found at least 16 examples of this idea submitted in the Spotify Community over the past 9 years (links below.) All of these threads have been closed, but I argue that the number of submissions asking for these features shows a clear user demand. This idea alone has received over 2,000 votes!

I fully support this idea.

Kind regards,

I would like to be able to only put a specific part of a song in a playlist. For example, I love the first 30 seconds of a song but then I always have to manually skip it. Or I have to skip to the last minute of a song, or reluctantly listen to a few minutes of music I do not enjoy. If there was like an advanced edit option for each song that would be great.

Ok.. Spotify needs an additional 'Pro' tier that has some BASIC audio editing features (no need for full DAW features)..  At a minimum, being able to start/stop a song at specific times in the tune, then x-fade to the next.

USE CASE:  Group Workout classes lead by instructors! Being able to edit the start/stop time of a song with specific BPM/time length counts, and then transition to the next song with a crossfade (or hard cut if needed), would be monumental in allowing instructors to create a solid class length playlist (often 30-45 min or so),

For example, a rowing/sping class.   Every class format has different lengths of blocks. For example, there could be an 11 minute rowing block that requires 3 songs with specified stroke rates. That is followed by a 5 minute floor block and then a 13 minute rowing block with 4 songs with difference strokes/minute requirements. There are a lot of moving pieces. Being able to create the playlist of songs that match this, then be able to edit start/stops to specific lengths to make the perfectly timed class would be an immense time-saver, and I'm sure top-tier subscribers with a site-license, etc. would gladly pay for this.

I could envision a VERY simple ProTools like UI with two stereo tracks and simple Cut/X-Fade tools.  I don't even think there's need for any volume automation tools.

Songs, especially in Hip Hop, pretty often have skits, which for an album listening might be alright. But if you have them in Playlists or you're shuffling the "saved songs" to just listen to music with friends, these not-parts-of-the-actual-song kill the vibe and flow of the experience.

If I could just select the song (and edit it's start and end time) for that song on my account, it would really make the experience better.

This is such a basic requirement. iTunes has offered this functionality for over a decade. Premium users should be able to choose a start and end time for their music, so many songs, especially dance songs have very long intros and/or outros.4 mins of song sandwiched by 90 seconds of **bleep** beat on either end. Users must be able to specify the start and end time of songs, and it will likely result in a net increase of streams for the artist due to making their content more accessible

Hello Spotify team,

I just want to say that this feature would be amazing and I hope that you decide to implement it.

This is an awesome idea. I am looking for this as well. Is parties I want to be able to control the cross fade to more than 12 seconds and decide myself when the second track will start cross fading on the first one. Not necessarily at the end of the song. This would be a huge feature for me.
