[All Platforms][Music] HiFi Quality - Lossless Streaming 16bit 44.1khz

I've just started a trial of Qobuz - they offer the standard 320kbps as well as lossless FLAC streaming (and high res downloads if you purchase them) the sound quality is noticeably better and on classical it's just wonderful to get all that resolution through your hi-fi or headphones! The catalogue has a way to go to get to Spotify's level, but they are getting there. The iPad app isn't' too bad (the desktop app is in need of an upgrade but I hear they are putting all their efforts into mobile apps right now).

So - lossless streaming - if Qobuz can do it then so can Spotify, they must have the same source - and obviously if you are asking £20 a month then those record labels and distributors take enough notice to make the high res tracks available for streaming. What this all means is soon, very soon, we will get lossless streaming and closely followed by high res downloads - but if Spotify aren't careful it will be Apple who get there first with an audiophile premium offering, and when they do it will be a much harder market place to make money in!

Hey folks,

We know that HiFi quality audio is important to you. We feel the same, and we’re excited to deliver a Spotify HiFi experience to Premium users in the future. But we don’t have timing details to share yet.

We will of course update you here when we can.

Take care.

Hey Spotify, I am currently testing Deezer's new HiFi option. I wonder if you relise it's not only Tidal or Qobuz, even stupid Deezer has a superior quality service, and so does Amazon Music (which I will test as soon as it becomes available where I reside).  I would love to stay with Spotify, as I like the UI, the playlists, the podcasts and the library. But at the end of the day what matters most is the sound quality and even with my equipment (NAD C338 and Dali speakers) the difference with Tidal (my favourite so far) is obvious. Please wake up.

hope can get hifi quality soon. thanks.

Bois there is no excuse left. The price of one flac in terms of bandwidth is is approximately 0,00004 USD for a 40mb flac. (On Google cloud) I don't know your royalties of course, but I would guess that they make up the way bigger cost/play portion of the cost. So... Just implement it. You already have the Mastered flac version from the original upload most of the time anyways. Also the bandwidth is generally a once in a month thing if you Cache ist correctly client side.

Also we all know the power of default options, so 99% of your users will still use the craptastic 128kbps or whatever is the default these days.

"Also we all know the power of default options, so 99% of your users will still use the craptastic 128kbps or whatever is the default these days." - And that´s the point - they don´t care about the 1%

I'd consider myself a Spotify "super user"... when I first started using Spotify in 2012, I had a 1tb external drive filled with music and only bought the 128gig iPods as I could never have enough music to carry with me.

Spotify quickly (way more quickly than I imagined it would) became my only source of music. I listen to music at least 3-4 hours a day and do so exclusively through Spotify, mostly the mobile app or my Apple TV. It is on constantly.

As tech has improved, so have my headphones and stereo. I'm more and more interested in streaming high-quality, lossless audio and am, for the first time in 7 years, exploring options outside Spotify. I rely heavily on playlists I've carefully curated on Spotify over the past 7 years, so I'm extremely reluctant to give up my Spotify. However, audio quality is important to me and if I'm able to find a service that provides both the selection of music and ability to stream lossless, I'll be giving it a shot.

It's my sincere hope that as 5g becomes more commonplace, Spotify is able to offer this to us more easily as I'd really like to stick with Spotify if possible.

I subscribe to both Tidal and Spotify family.

I love the playlists, usability, app quality, and selection on Spotify.

Tidal blows Spotify away on quality though. When listening on good headphones or my home hifi, Tidal is always first choice.

Please get high quality onto Spotify before I have to ditch Spotify as redundant.

There's no point for lossless in Spotify windows platform if it doesn't feature WASAPI since all that extra information will just be tainted by Windows mixer + system sounds. That's why I use Apple Music because offering superior sound to Spotify due to WASAPI interface and apple lossless compression. Tidal also sounds amazing but it's missing some of the catalog that I stream on Apple MusicCapture.PNG

Get on board the lossless train or be left behind. I’ve been a Spotify Premium user since 2013. I just signed up for my Amazon Music HD trial. I may never come back to Spotify. Such a shame.

Love to have the option of at least CD quality. Love everything about Spotify except the limit of not having a lossless option. Please please please. Like will have to leave if you can’t offer it. Can’t afford 2 services for ever.
