[All Platforms][Music] HiFi Quality - Lossless Streaming 16bit 44.1khz

I've just started a trial of Qobuz - they offer the standard 320kbps as well as lossless FLAC streaming (and high res downloads if you purchase them) the sound quality is noticeably better and on classical it's just wonderful to get all that resolution through your hi-fi or headphones! The catalogue has a way to go to get to Spotify's level, but they are getting there. The iPad app isn't' too bad (the desktop app is in need of an upgrade but I hear they are putting all their efforts into mobile apps right now).

So - lossless streaming - if Qobuz can do it then so can Spotify, they must have the same source - and obviously if you are asking £20 a month then those record labels and distributors take enough notice to make the high res tracks available for streaming. What this all means is soon, very soon, we will get lossless streaming and closely followed by high res downloads - but if Spotify aren't careful it will be Apple who get there first with an audiophile premium offering, and when they do it will be a much harder market place to make money in!

Hey folks,

We know that HiFi quality audio is important to you. We feel the same, and we’re excited to deliver a Spotify HiFi experience to Premium users in the future. But we don’t have timing details to share yet.

We will of course update you here when we can.

Take care.

Bye-Bye Spotify!

The CEO's decision not to stream high quality music will one day be ranked up there with the Kodak's failure to move into digital photography and Blockbusters missed opportunity to get into into streaming.

Totally agree. And to make matters worse at the time he said that high-def isn't something that really resonated with users it was the 2nd most popular thread in the history of Spotify's community forums. Talk about an own goal!

The competition must have been loving it when he came out with that one.

why do u think spotify dont do the lossless cd quality?

whats the problem to do it???

they see that lots of people here want it, so why they just dont do it already???

what reason they can have that they still dont do it???

is it will cost them more money? but this plan will be more expensive, and many people will use it...

tidal, deezer, amazon, and qobuz has it already...,

i really dont understand spotify...

The reason why Spotify is not doing it:
The majority of all paying subscribers just don't care, it's nice to have,
but they stay with Spotify, because they love Spotify. Spotify doesn't
care, if these 17'751 subscribers, who voted for this feature request, are
leaving Spotify, they just won't notice.
Just read this: Spotify has over 100 MILLION paying subscribers, so why
should they implement something really expensive for just 17'000 ? They
rather focus on other things, which from a commercial point of view is just
right.

I actually voted for this feature request too, and I can't await the day
where they bring it, however I see, why they are not doing it. So we just
have to wait and hope. (i don't own shares of Spotify).

You can get 4 months of Tidal Hifi for $20.20 right now. Why should I stay with Spotify? Because they might offer something in the distant future? Nah

Soundquality

Spotify is NOT intersted in lossless. They don't care about audio quality . The bass in particular in the Spotify codec is  muddy and not well defined.

I'm a happy Tidal subsrbiber and when Amazon gets on more devices I will support them too.

Spotify can kiss my a.......s !
