[Music] Tag Music

It'd be awesome to be able to add my own tags to all of my songs in playlists, so I can easily and specifically sort my songs how I like.

Should be a pretty simple tool to implement.

Thanks

Hey folks

When do you plan this major enhancement? Is it still active? It has been posted since 2012 and it is really handy feature to be implemented.

  • It would be really useful to have a feature where users can tag their playlists with a music genre (like “trap”, “salsa”, “rock”, “rap”, etc.). Spotify could use this to recommend more songs within that playlist, or allow us to filter the content of our own playlists by genre. This would make playlist organization and music discovery even better for users who like to mix and explore specific styles.

My Question or Issue

So the filters in the liked songs section are WILDLY inaccurate.

- For one thing, it seems to assume that just because an artist HAS made rap music that somehow means ALL their music is rap. For example, Post Malone has made some rap music in the past, that's how he got started. But his newest album is ENTIRELY country, there is ZERO rap in his new album and get it shows his new album under the rap filter.

- secondly, it has an option for 'angry' but seems to just put random songs/anything with a loud voice under this option, but also slower songs, electropop, folk, ect. Just random songs, most of which aren't angry at all, yet all the ACTUALLY angry ones are excluded???

Basically the filters are USELESS because they're WRONG.

I was hoping one day spotify would tell us the exact genre of every song in the title or in the information section. This could be the greatest innovation ever, please consider!

Please add this feature, sometimes it is really hard to find out what genre a song is

Title: Dynamic Mood Tagging + 0–3 Rating System for Songs

Suggestion:
I’d love a feature where I can quickly rate each song from 0 to 3 stars (or a simple scale) to track how much I currently like it. This way, I can adjust my ratings over time as my taste changes.

Also, I’d love to tag songs with a mood reaction like:

  • Happy

  • Sad

  • Motivated

  • Relaxed

  • Etc.

Both the rating and mood should be quick-access right from the Now Playing screen, so I can adjust on the fly as songs come back around.

This would help me:

  • Build mood-based playlists automatically

  • Let Spotify recommend based on both current liking and mood impact

  • Track how my feelings toward certain songs evolve over time

Thank you for considering this! It would make Spotify feel way more personal and emotionally connected.
