[Music] Turn off explicit Album Artwork

Even for songs that are not explicit, sometimes the artwork of the album is extremely inappropriate. Spotify needs to add a feature where you can choose whether to display the artwork or not. The ability to turn off album art would make Spotify safer for use in both the home and in the workplace.

Hey all,

I just discovered a workaround for those listening to Spotify on their desktop. Use the Spotify web player while using Chrome as your browser, instead of using the Spotify Desktop App. In Chrome's settings, go to Advanced and then Privacy/Content settings, where it shows the different types of content websites can show you. Click on "Images" and add open.spotify.com to the "Block" list. This will allow you to use the website and all of its features but it will not display any album images.

Yeah I already do that when I use computer. I just want this also on my phone and the official desktop player. they could always do somthing similar in the view tab on the desktop player and in the settings of ios/android app. Similar to the canvas turn on and off feature. Why not add this for album art covers too.

I will also say the recommendation system and filter system is junk. I don’t even listen to a lot of these recommended songs and what I tend to listen to is instrumentals from film and games. So this business of allowing artists to upload album art with nude topless women is so immature and a very big double standard on Spotify’s policy. No I’m not a prude Spotify and no your don't have the right to force feed pornography to me either on my home page. Get it together with your quality/content control.

@osornios, Spotify I posted idea 4795169 and it was updated to be a duplicate.  My idea was to take offensive album art away  from the login pages, which is much more urgent because it is publicly available. This ticket's solution is different, because the idea above requests that the user can choose to turn it off.  My "idea" is that there is album art that is offensive on your publicly-available login page of your web player. Bellacosa appeared on my login page today every time that I logged in. This is an album with a woman in a thong, facing away from the camera, so the publicly-surfing user sees this when they visit the page. This is not a smart idea for a platform's page that is available publicly. Ensuring that nothing is sexually offensive guarantees families, children and anyone with morals will be attracted to your service. Everyone knows of Spotify but parents, children and many others who use computers will not visit the page if you have offensive content at the very beginning of the login process. This is not a page where people can customize what they want to see, so anything offensive should be scrubbed from their view.

I totally agree. That is a another very big problem. They just be posting that Lizzo near nude, CardiB shot along with other heinous images on the home page of Spotify. But apparently Artist can post all the pornography they want while users can not. This fact shows that thier entire explicit policy is broken and needs to be reviewed and changed. They claim they don't want to censor music or freedom of speech, but when are they going to draw the line when it come to the sexual violence/abuse and exploitation of men, women and children. One would think that those things are just wrong. But not Spotify?

Seems like spotify is more interested in making money and fighting with Apple rather then helping it's die hard customers.

The fact that there is no filter for this mean we all are subscribers of a pornography service. Disgusting  Porsnpotify. This is definitely at 17+ iOS and android app. How this has gone under the radar is proof Spotify doesn’t care.

Well this new parental filter doesn't block pornography.

This issue is becoming worse and worse as time goes on. I would like to browse new releases without having to see things like this https://open.spotify.com/album/386IqvSuljaZsMjwDGGdLj?si=J7eG_K8uT7Kb-naCL2DFlQ

I used to go to the record store and just flick through the album covers.  Now kids can just click through the album covers.  Grow up everyone!  If your children have smartphones to listen to Spotify then the "**bleep**" available here is the least of your worries.

This request isn't specific to children, as an adult I would like the option to not see nudity and NSFW album art while I browse and listen to music.

The album art is display prominently on my iPhone and Apple TV when listening to music, and for personal and professional reasons that is not always appropriate.

I'm here to listen to music, nudity and NSFW content has it's own place on the internet.
