[Music] Warning when a Track is removed from Spotify

I use Spotify to store the music i like - saving them on Playlists. Spotify adds music continuosly but also deletes other, by licence problems or whatever. But you Spotify must warn me in that circumstances, so I can get that music from another source. It s not acceptable that you quit music from your servers and from my playlist without any kind of warning. It s a disrepect to the user of your service. Please solve this problem as soon as it s possible.

Hey folks,

Thanks for coming to the Community, and adding your vote to this idea!

We're keeping this idea to 'Not Right Now', as this isn't something we have any immediate plans to implement. We appreciate you sharing your thoughts.

As before, you can show unavailable track by going to Settings -> Display Options -> Show unavailable tracks in playlists. This setting also works for saved songs.

If we do have any new info to share, rest assured we'll check back in here with a new status.

Thanks.

This...more than any other problem I have with Spotify...is what is most likely to get me to stop paying for Premium.

There's nothing more annoying than listening with a great deal of enjoyment to a playlist and then suddenly being presented with an awful cover or a terrible live version of a beloved song you carefully selected.

I Just had almost an entire playlist replaced or deleted from my selection of music. It was a classical Piano playlist and most of hte music is gone now and 1)I don't know the reason why and 2)I wasn't informed of this change. So when I went to listen to this playlist. everyhing was either gone or changed, save a few songs. NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER

This is increadibly frusterating and needs to be fixed immediately. Okay, so spotify is embarrassed it's losing content and is trying to hide it to save face? Come on Spotify. They need to address this. Either by leaving the items grayed out or having a log where you can see what was removed.

Many of us spend a lot of time building playlists, which spotify seems to entirely not understand. They are always tooling the client to be better for streaming and not as good for playlists. If it continues, it's going to be a nice way to enoucrage me to stop paying them $10 a month.

Congratulations on reaching 100 kudos. You rock, and obviously, so does this idea.
Hang on tight, you will soon (usually within a couple of months) see a reply from Spotify in this thread determining the future of the idea.

Hey folks! thanks for your feedback around this playlist idea.

At the moment we don't have plans to implement an alert window. However, you can go into the Preferences in your Spotify desktop app and uncheck "Hide Unplayable Tracks". That way these tracks will remain in your playlist as grey-out tracks (instead of just vanishing) so you can keep an eye on what has been removed. You can of course continue to leave your feedback here and we'll keep a close eye on these ideas.

Really glad to see other people are requesting this feature. I've used Spotify for a few years now as the place that I store my entire music library, so for me it's really important to know when a track disappears (I understand why music disappears from Spotify, it's a pain, but I can deal with it by patching gaps in my library).

If it's not implemented by Spotify, I'm tempted to put something together to do it myself using the web API. It wouldn't take too much work to scan a user's library and playlists, perhaps weekly, and check each track is still available in their region. They could then be emailed when stuff disappears.

Having said that, I assume it would be even less work for Spotify to implement themselves...

I completely agree! This is incredibly important to know if a song on my personally created playlists is removed. I rely on these playlists for my profession and I need to ensure that songs are not removed without my knowledge.

I have brought this up directly to a Spotify customer service representative and was directed here. Please add your comments so that we may get this feature priortized!

Hi, there.

I just realized today that songs will occasionally be removed from playlists. I'm not the sharpest crayon in the box.

I'm used to media disappearing from Netflix, and I get why it's happening here, but just hadn't noticed before.

So, I have two questions. Hopefully someone will have an answer.

1. I haven't noticed replacement tracks like others have mentioned here. My preference would be that Spotify does not attempt to replace the track with a live version, cover, alternate track, re-recorded version, etc. Does anyone know how tracks are replaced, or if they even are replaced?

2. In the even that licensing issues were worked out, would the song reappear in my playlist?

Thanks!

+1 - please inform us when songs are removed.
