Option to flag a song as "overplayed"

The reason I pay for a premium subscription is because I can't stand how radio stations only play the same top 10 songs over and over, so i like to be in control of my playlist.

Recently I have noticed that the algorithm is giving a strong preference to play certain songs within my playlist more often than others. I gather that it does this based on songs that I listen to the most. The only reason I am listening to those songs that often is a direct result of the algorithm placing those songs in my que more often. So I am locked in a perpetual feedback loop of songs that get played too often.

A solution for this could be to give users the ability to flag a song as "overplayed". I do not necessarily want to remove the song from my playlist entirely, I just want to tell the algorithm that I would like to move it down on the priority list.

I think it's a very good Idea 🙂

Yes, please. Not liking a sound != I don't want this in every playlist.

I totally agree, I noticed the same and starting to be frustrated by it.

This algoritm repeats some songs I like so often that im starting to hate them.
If the algorithm is based on the number of plays, the most listened song will get palyed more and more often the more i play in shuffle.
I suggest to have the option for a true random shuffle.

in another service I saw a slider option to choose how often you want it to repeat songs, I think it is the best realisation and would be glad if Spotify do the same

TanyaS

It could count as pure shuffle improvement as it could be irritating to hear the same song again

Would be such a great feature if you had some songs in multiple playlist causing you to listen to it all the time, I end up removing songs from playlist they should be in because i listen to them too much, then end up forgetting to ever add them back.

This is a great idea. I have many songs on my playlists that Spotify never plays, while others are repeated for years. Some I've had to remove because I've become tired of hearing them so often, even though I'd like to keep them for the occasional listen.

I've experienced the overplayed issue too.I seams to be related to my liked songs and my play list. Some of it could from being in  several different copys of my play lists. It ruins some of my favorites for me.

I'm not sure if the repetition is based on liked songs and being on multiple playlists. I have thousands of songs on playlists. Many are never played. I have liked songs that are never played. There are some songs on only one playlist and not liked which have been played constantly for years. Even a few of these that I have deleted from all playlists due to over use still get played whilst thousands of others miss out on being played.

I have only speculated from my experience. Sounds like you  have more experience. Did they stay with your listening type preferences? The other guesses might be AI suggestions? Promotional consideration?Random based on previous choices. What go you think?
