Passkey/WebAuthn support

I wanted to suggest adding support for passwordless login using WebAuthn. This would let users log in without needing a password at all — using things like Face ID, fingerprint readers, or hardware keys like a YubiKey.

Just to clarify: I’m not talking about WebAuthn as a second factor (2FA), but as a full replacement for passwords. Many other big services already support this, and it’s a great mix of security and convenience.

It’d be nice if Spotify supported passwordless login with both built-in device authenticators and hardware keys. WebAuthn supports all of that, so it’s just a matter of implementing it as a login method.

Clearly Spotify wants to go Passwordless,

Seeing how they now**bleep** up your inbox with login links without giving you the option to skip that and just use your password.

But so long as hardware keys remain not widespread enough because they're too expensive for J. Random L. users, Passwordless Logins simply aren't gonna work out.

I would like Spotify to kindly stop spamming me with emails......

WebAuthn support also includes passkeys on password managers like bitwarden and 1password, Apple, Android and Google biometrics, Windows hello and so on in addition to hardware keys. They are more places than you would think;)
