Playlist Curator Monetization through Spotify Playlist Ads

Status: Live Idea
0 Likes

Proposal:

Establish a Playlist Ad Program where curators meeting specific follower and engagement thresholds can apply to monetize their playlists. Artists pay Spotify directly for promotion, and Spotify places 30-second song previews as ads on playlist pages, matching the playlist’s genre. Listeners hear different promoted songs per session, with options to downvote tracks they dislike. Curators earn a share of ad revenue for every song click-through, incentivizing ethical curation.

Benefits:
• Ethical Monetization: Curators have a legitimate revenue stream, reducing the temptation for unethical pay-for-placement schemes.
• Targeted Promotion: Artists reach audiences that align with their genre, increasing the
likelihood of genuine engagement.

By implementing these proposals, Spotify can enhance transparency, prevent fraud, and provide equitable monetization opportunities for playlist curators, benefiting the entire music streaming ecosystem.

I believe this and my other ideas combined will improve the many challenges artist, spotify, curators, and distribution companies face with illegal botted streams. I’ve attached my original proposal to this. It was removed for violating community guidelines. Too many ideas put together. Feel free to share, add ideas in the comments, or improvements.
