[Playlists] Notification of freshly added Tracks

As I just had to find out from Spotify support, they removed playlist notifications from Spotify.

"
The notifications are being disabled and soon they will disappear for all users. You can still get notifications via e-mail though. You can set that up here

If you'd like the notifications back, feel free to post on the Spotify Community.
At the moment new songs added to playlists you follow will no longer be denoted.

We've made the change as of December. It's not a technical issue, we'd mainly like to avoid "spamming" our users.
"

As of last year also the blue dot indicator (next to the playlists) was removed, there is now way anymore to tell if new songs got added to a playlist - besides email notifications.
But I don’t want email notifications. I want these notifications within the app itself.
At least make it configurable which notifications you want to see when clicking on the notification button.

What's the next thing they're going to remove?
Messages?

Who also wants playlist notifications back?

Hey everyone,

Thanks for bringing us your feedback in the Spotify Idea Exchange.

We see this still seems to be talked about on the Community, so we're reopening votes for the idea. We'll continue to monitor and check out the comments here, too.

As soon as we have any updates on its status, we'll let you know.

More info on how your feedback reaches Spotify via the Idea Exchange can be found here.

I totally agree.

I think they should bring back this feature in some form on the app/desktop rather than just be email.

Spotify prides itself on Discovery, so why reduce the functionality.

I'm sure the record labels, who at the end of the day provide all the content, like the fact that people 'follow' their acts and are instantly notified when a new track / album is available.

The New release section is not an algorithmn bespoke to user listening habits.

The Discover Weekly playlist is good, but no way of knowing which tracks are 'new'!

Perhaps they are developing a New release playlist, that will be updated every Friday based on artists we follow or of similar ilk.

However it doesn't solve the problem of knowing when favourite playlists are updated.

I work with e-mail notifications from followed artist. If this e-mail notifications missing i will find another company that have notifications. I can't stop work. The stupid think is that i have a lot of playlists saved here...but anyway..i will leave if we dont have explanation and change.
HEY SPOTIFY WHERE IS YOUR SUPPORT or this is final decision?

And why in my WEB control panel i have NOTIFICATIONS section with marks when it is not working anymore??

PLEASE answer us!

My notifications have been buggy for the last few months at best. I've started using swarm.fm to follow the artists I care about since Spotify's notifications are basically useless at this point.

To top it off my notification bell icon disappeared altogether earlier this week so I guess they have really decided they know best. I've been a subscriber of Spotify since it was first available in the US but this is ridiculous.

Will someone ever answer to us ? Bringing back a functionnality that was already developped shouldn't be that expansive for them !
I loved to share collaboratives playlists with my friend, and now without notifications I'm missing every new track !

After 3+ years as a premium user, I'm ready to jump ship as soon as I find a suitable replacement and a way to transfer my playlists to the new service. Spotify's failure to address this specific concern has been a very significant part of this decision.

I'm dumbfounded.  This was my favorite feature and the best way to discover new music.  So what's the point of the "Follow" button now?

I've been a vocal Spotify brand advocate for six years now.  Going to finally try Apple Music.

I follow over 1,700 artists on Spotify and over 100 playlists. I NEED this feature. Spam away! I'm missing so much great new music from artists I love because of this.

A quick update:

My notification bell stayed where it always had been, despite some of you were missing it.
I wrote to the support again and asked whether they were going to remove it and that my playlist updates still don't work.

The support desk employee couldn't answer my question but told me, that he changed some settings of my account.
I didn't really trust his solution because in the past many changes were made to that account by Spotify employees. I needed to wait until today when my notifaction bell had a beautiful little blue bubble with "1" in it to tell me that a playlist was updated. The first one for nearly half a year.
Still I don't understand why your icons have disappeared. Maybe you want to write the support team again and see if they can fix it by either making it show up again or reviving its functionality. For me it worked out for now, but I am not 100% confident that it will last. Let's see...
