[Profile] Reset Taste Profile / History

Please allow for a reset option, so you can start all over again with a clean sheet.

For now, you have to start over with an entirely new account to do just that. And for that you need to contact Customer Support. Not very convenient.

Hey folks,

We appreciate you coming to the Community, and adding your votes and comments to this idea.

We're setting this idea to 'Not Right Now', as this isn't something we have any immediate plans to implement.
If we do have any new info to share, rest assured we'll check back in here with a new status.

Thanks

So 2 years on from your last status update and the 'new' status update is actually not to update the status at all (despite the headline of 'status changed to not right now' - it was already at that status as far as I can tell.

So basically no update - no news - no change - no listening.

That's the problem with these great opportunities for 'customer feedback' - the company needs the resources to actually be able to respond with action otherwise rather than helping users it just deteriorates the customer relationship.

Thanks spotify.

Sounds like it's time to give YouTube Music a try. Same price, and you can edit your history:

Right now, I am attempting to reset my taste profile by unfollowing the Discover Weekly playlist last week due to lack of interest of lesser-known artists (mainly under the singer/songwriter genre that I only want to listen to once in a while on Spotify playlists only not all the time) being featured on that playlist due to listening to consecutive Discover Weekly playlists for a little more than one year. I also decided to unsave almost every Discover Weekly song on My Library so I can get a fresh start on the Recommendations algorithm (but I won't be listening to Discover Weekly anymore because Last.fm's recommendations are much more accurate for someone who wants to listen to similar artists and popularity level than Spotify's recommendations). Maybe, I should have used private mode to listen to Your Favorite Coffeehouse while drinking coffee (although I listen to Good Vibes, Fresh & Chill, It's Alt Good, and Today's Top Hits much more often than most singer/songwriter and folk ones) because I am tired of artists such as Imaginary Future constantly being added on my Discover Weekly and Spotify Recommendations while I'd rather see artists similar to Above & Beyond, Armin van Buuren, Justin Bieber, Tame Impala, and The Wonder Years being added on the Recommendations list. However, the popularity level has to be over 10,000 followers so I don't get overwhelmed by several lesser-known artists that sound similar to other artists from the Discover Weekly algorithm especially if I were to be new to genres such as pop-punk, electropop, and some subgenres of EDM. Also, my favorite part about Discover Weekly is the inclusion of alternative pop/rock artists such as COIN, Flor, Hippo Campus, Surfaces, The Band CAMINO, and Yam Haus because they were once up-and-coming artists that are now very popular on Spotify that are aimed for young adults like me. Therefore, I really don't want the Discover Weekly algorithm to affect my song recommendations and the "More of What You Like" category (but I call it "Suggested/Recommended Playlists for You") at all due to crossover country music artists being featured on Discover Weekly thus traditional country playlists being added although I only listen to pop playlists that feature those artists due to not being a fan of traditional country music thinking the lyrics are too old-fashioned and too cliched (e.g. pickup trucks, iced-cold beer, and dirt roads) for me because those lyrics don't really fit in with my lifestyle.

At last but not least, Spotify should have a customization feature of Spotify Recommendations so I can control most of my recommendations. For example, I want to deactivate my Discover Weekly playlist so I don't have to look at future recommendations in one playlist anymore, and I only want to use the Discover feature under the Search category to check out artist and album recommendations. In addition, I only want some of my own playlists, certain Spotify genre playlists, and artists I follow to affect my recommendations. I also don't want to include single releases on my recommendations unless it is by an EDM artist because single releases are common for the EDM genre. Therefore, albums matter most to me than single releases because I learn best about similar artists by listening to albums. In addition, I don't want the "So Fresh & So Clean" and "Playlists Made Just for You" playlist categories to be included on the recommendations list.

Every time I come here all I ever see is Spotify NOT implementing great ideas that lots of people would like. I think it’s apparent that Spotify really don’t care about their users and the Spotify experience. I wouldn’t be surprised if Apple had infiltrated their management staff.

This idea is CRITICAL! Without being able to have appropriate music recommendations Spotify is useless to me. I want to discover.

The ability to remove a temporary selection of music, either played by a family member or for a one-off event - is very much missing! I now have a one-time played album played byy my wife placed second under my "heavy rotation", and I still see those "happy birthday" songs from my son's birthday two weeks ago. This is not a "need to improve the learning algorithm" issue, this is a "keep the user from freaking out and think carefully whether to play something or not on spotify" issue.

Why don't you understand that Spotify doesn'**bleep** what its users want. They know what is best for you. Stop paying them. There are other better services available. This is a **bleep**-poor company.

This idea is a MUST.  I would love to see each playlist have a toggle for wether or not it influences your Discovery Weekly/listening preferences in general.  Beyond that, I would love a slider so you can dynamically weight the amount of influence each playlist carries, so if you want to trend indie in the winter then hiphop in the summer, you can right one cue.

I absolutely love(d) discovery weekly and would look forward to finding great new music every Monday... until recently.  In the winter months my air ducts are very loud and make popping noises every time the heat kicks on.  I started listening to a rain track on repeat to help mask the popping noises so I can sleep through the night for once.  Well, now Spotify thinks that I own a meditation spa and want to listen to one note drone tracks constantly.  NO.  Just, NO.

It's not winter anymore and I'm not listening to the rain track, but it's like a pervasive virus has infected my discovery weekly algorithm for perpetuity.  I also started using "private session" about two months ago to help mitigate the influence of the track in question.  I have been clicking "I don't like this" on EVERY SONG for the last 4-6 weeks in my DW playlists.  Listening to one track should not have NEARLY this much influence as compared to the other songs I listen to regularly.  This is truly ridiculous.  I am VERY disappointed in the the lack of intelligence and consistency in the "discovery weekly" algorithm performance.  I constantly discover great tracks at bars, cafes, and my local climbing gym, and wonder why spotify didn't suggest them years ago.  PLEASE FIX THIS.  If EVERY song is not liked for several weeks... it should know it's WAAAAY off course.  PLEASE do better.

As a paying customer for +/- 10 years and reading this got put on the backurner I have decided to ditch spotify. I want a fresh start on my playlists, if you wont offer it then I might as well start over from scratch and register a new account.. However It wont be with spotify. I am making the long overdue switch to Apple Music.
