[Queue] Queue to Next or Last

Present two options on rightclick, Queue Last and Queue Next. Very easy to implement, and useful.

The way I been using spotty lately is to keep adding to Play Queue, it has gotten really long and sometimes I want to listen to something right now, then I have to add to queue and then move the songs all the way up to the top.

Mediamonkey have had this implemented since long ago. Mediamonkey is btw the best musicorganizer I've ever owned or tried.

Hey there,

Thanks for this submission. We had a slight hiccup with moving ideas to different boards, but it's all good now.

We're setting the status of this one as "not right now", but that doesn't mean that your votes don't count.

Cheers!

I do agree with this comment. I am a VoiceOver user because I am visually impaired. I added a song to the end of my queue, and I did try to move it up more in the queue so it would play earlier than if it were at the end. It moved up one spot, but then, when I pressed “move up” again, Spotify started playing a song much later in the queue than what I had been on, so I had to add even more to the queue in order to have a fresh playlist on my ride home from work. This is exactly why I was glad to find the “play next” feature about a week and a half ago, but I was disappointed to find out that it went away yesterday after the apparent update. I want to be able to understand more why the “play next” feature seemed to come and go on my end. I’m sure I’m not the only one, am I? I’m wondering if this feature is in beta right now or something, and maybe it will eventually be released as a permanent addition to Spotify? I definitely hope for that, and I’m sure I’m not alone. 🙂

In the context menu next to the song titles, near the "add to queue" button, add a "Play This Next" button. When the user selects this, add the song to the queue at the top, to be the next song played ("Add to Queue" adds song to the end of the list, which is great! But.... Sometimes I want to hear a certain song and want it next! Then let the queue continue from where it was.....

Really strange, this menu item, Play next, was available some days ago but is removed again. It worked perfectly. Didn't think Spotify ever did any rollback considering how much functionality is broken again and again.

Yes, hopefully they add “play next” permanently in a not-so-distant future update.

@tee-0 add to beginning of queue and play next are, I guess, the same thing.

But what you are referring is also the biggest reason Spotify isn't the audio platform it wants to be. Parallel queues should be a thing.

So if I am listening to multiple podcasts, I can put its playlist on hold and play some songs parallely to that playlist. Then if my friend suddenly recommends me a song, I can put that songs playlist on hold too and just preview that song and a couple of related songs in another parallel queue.

That means 3 queue are parallely playing in Spotify. To achieve this, right now I have 3-4 music and podcast apps. A bit harder to implement but Spotify will cement itself as the audio super app

I very frequently use the context menus in both the desktop client and mobile app to add other songs to my queue that come to mind as I'm listening to something, without interrupting my current track, via the Add to queue action:

I have been a Spotify subscriber for seven years now, but before that I would use Apple's Music app (formerly iTunes) as my primary music player. One thing I always appreciated about their interface is that there are two context menu items for adding another track/album/playlist to my "now playing" queue:

Apple Music context menu with "Play Next" and "Play Last" actionsApple Music context menu with "Play Next" and "Play Last" actions

  1. Play Next - This action is the same behavior as Spotify's Add to queue action, i.e. it prepends the given track(s) to your queue to play after the current track finishes
  2. Play Last - This action adds the given track(s) to the end of your queue. It's much more ideal for someone who might want to queue up another album or playlist without interrupting their current content as a whole

I'd like to suggest an additional context menu action in Spotify to append tracks to the end of your now playing queue, e.g. Add to end of queue.

Thanks!
