RETURN THE LIKE BUTTON

I don't care if this has been submitted a hundred times over, you Spotify devs clearly need to hear it. You should *not* have to go through the effort of finding the "liked songs" playlist, just to add a song to Liked, when you have a ton of playlists. Playlists don't even sort like they used to, it seems almost random which playlists show first despite which ones I interacted with last - but that's not the issue here; it's just yet another downside of the problem at hand.

Please. Please. Please.

Bring back the **bleep** 'liked'/heart button on songs and albums. Having to add liked songs to my liked playlist manually just leads to me adding it to different playlists because it's so **bleep** tedious in the first place. I've been adding songs to playlists and then using the PC version to mass-add songs to Liked because you make it so inconvenient on mobile. This isn't user-friendly in the slightest.

Just, why? Why can't you just bring back the little heart? I thought the point of liked songs was to add songs then and there; not to have to stop in the street to add a song to a playlist because it now takes several seconds to do so. I've been paying for Premium since 2009, and now I'm wondering if you're worth the effort. Fire whoever told you it was a good idea to remove the Liked button, seriously. Fire yourselves for listening, too.

This is a horrible change, not being able to see songs you’ve liked is a nightmare. I have over 30k of them and now I have no idea which are which in playlists and albums.

We're thrilled to see that your suggestion is rapidly gaining popularity and we're updating its status to Good Suggestion.
We hope that it will continue to gain support from more users. Thank you for your valuable contribution - we truly appreciate it!

So "you hope that it will continue to gain support from more users" ??? You don't need to hope, you simply need to understand that removing the heart button was a bad move and fix it asap. Why is it so hard to understand that having a separate heart icon/button for the playing song and in playlists is a must have. That's just basic functionality that should live next to a plus button that allows one to:

  • add a track to one or more playlists
  • have an indication that a track is in one of your own playlists (except the "liked songs" playlist, that is indicated already by the heart icon)
  • remove a track from one or more playlists (or move a track to another playlist)

So the new playlist managing feature (the plus button with its features listed above) is a huge step forward (thanks for that Spotify!), but you really should decouple the heart feature (the indication + the behavior) from the plus button! And you don't need user votes for that because this is common sense. Show us that you have the guts to decide for yourself that this needs improvement!

I would love to hear feedback as to why anyone at Spotify thought it would be a good move to collapse both features ...

Agreed! Also being able to add songs to a playlist more than once should be brought back as well!!

The ability to see which songs you've previously liked was featured with he heart-button. The plus-button may have some convenience adding songs to (multiple) playlists (including the liked-one), but I made much use of the now deleted function. Now I have to click every song on the plus symbol to see if (and where) it's stored in my playlist(s).

I would like someone from Spotify to comment about this feature. I've noticed that is on top of the list demanded features. So, please don't keep us waiting to long for a solution. Hope you'll understand. Bye 🙂

YES! This p*sses me off so much. WHICH ONES ARE MY FAVORITES? I'm all for adding new features, but this reeks of enshittification. Many, myself included, hopped from Google Music to Spotify a decade ago because it was the more user-friendly choice. Maybe something more user-friendly will come along and it'll happen again.

Thankfully, the snap client hasn't been updated with this "feature" yet so my desktop is safe.

Unfortunately it is unlikely they will bring the button back. This surely must have been planned a long ago and it must rely on a a/b testing or maybe algorithms strategies so they can privilege commercial interests of big record companies..

Shuffling is good example, it always bring songs that you are not very interested.. at this rate in the future maybe we won’t be able to chose what songs we want to listen. Algorithms will do it.. like in the old times back when the radios used to chose what we listen or not. In the future chosing a song could be only upon payment.. Amazon already does that with the movies! And sadly the great majority doesn’t care, they buy!

This change really bothers me. Usually I'm fine with adapting to new things but removing that heart-icon is an extremely big step backwards for my Spotify usage. With this, the whole "Favorite songs" playlist/functionality makes absolutely no sense anymore. Please bring it back or add some kind of other indication to highlight songs that are better than others.

Edit: Talking about mobile (iOS). On desktop we luckily still got that.

taking away the heart button was THE WORST update spotify has ever released. the heart was a simple easy and effective sorting method for liked songs, it made it very clear what songs were liked and what songs weren't. the new update makes it difficult to tell what's liked and overall makes liking songs harder.

There have several strange feature updates in the past few years.
