Remove the ridiculous monthly limit to lyrics and Enjoy lyrics on Spotify Premium.

FIRST OF ALL WHY DO WE HAVE A MONTHLY LIMIT TO LYRICS? AND WHY ON THE WEBSITE DO YOU HAVE TO BUY PREMIUM??? THIS IS RIDICULOUS! WHAT IS THE POINT? NOT TO MENTION YOU CAN ALSO JUST GOOGLE THE LYRCIS AND IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE LYRICS IN REAL TIME USE YOUTUBE I SWEAR SPOTIFY IS SO DUMB AND MONEY HUNGRY AT THIS POINT (VOTE SO SPOTIFY CAN GET RID OF THIS)

Update: now that I look back at it… LYRICS ARE A ACCESSIBILITY FEATURE WHICH IS MEANT FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE HARD OF HEARING OR ARE DEAF. THIS IS THE SAME CONCEPT AS PUTTING A MONTHLY LIMIT TO CAPTIONS AND PUTTING CAPTIONS BEHIND A PAY WALL WHICH IS RIDICULOUS. SPOTIFY FIX YOUR APP AND WEBSITE AND TAKE BETTER NOTES. (BTW THEY DONT EVEN SHOW THE “THERES A MONTHLY LIMIT TO LYRICS” POP UP ANYMORE, IT JUST SAYS “There’s a monthly limit to lyrics (show lyrics)” LIKE HUH??? (IF YOU STILL DONT KNOW WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT CHECK THE 3RD PHOTO!)

KEEP VOTING SO SPOTIFY CAN REMOVE THIS!

(UPDATE: I THINK WE WON??)

THEY EVEN BROUGHT BACK THE LYRICS TO SONGS THAT HAD “Couldn’t load the lyrics for this song” **bleep**??

Pardon me for going off topic but let me regale you with a four year old tale of woe about the abomination that pretends to be the "shuffle" in Spotify. While this is completely unrelated, this particular discussion shows that Spotify have the ability to respond to customer complaints.

Which proves to me that when it comes to problems with Spotify's shuffle, what's lacking is not the ability, but the will.

@Bryan193 have you heard of this thing called vibrations?

somnomania

@Bryan193 fully, 100% deaf, maybe not, but numerous people who are legally deaf/HOH have commented on this topic and say that lyrics are an enormous part of why they can still enjoy music.

gordonzed91

Not a Spotify employee, but I am a web developer, so just my two cents: the lyrics are provided by a third party service (Musixmatch), and I'm guessing Spotify is high up on the list of their API's most prolific users. I would be willing to bet that the limit (which I've never encountered, but I only look at the lyrics very occasionally) is Spotify's way of keeping their usage in check. Any third party API like Musixmatch is going to very likely have usage based billing, and almost certainly have rate limits (limits to how many API calls can be made in a short span of time), so having a hard limit per user probably keeps their billing in check, and within what they've accounted for.

Just out of curiosity though, roughly how much use are you getting out of the lyrics before hitting this limit? I didn't even know it existed before I saw this thread.

Sandy232

Listening to the lyrics is also an option.

somnomania

@gordonzed91 the issue has been resolved, but the limit was lyrics for five songs a month while it was still in effect. when it first came to my attention, it was may 3rd, i hadn't listened in several days, and the first song i looked it informed me i was at the limit for the month already.

@Sandy232 people who are deaf/HOH rely on lyrics to fully appreciate music, and even people who have full hearing just can't tell what's being said sometimes, whether it's the fault of the song itself, ADHD, sensory processing disorder, a noisy environment, or any number of other things. "excuse me while i touch this guy" and all that.

luciana13

It's ridiculous that if we don't have premium, we have a monthly limit to view song lyrics on the app and also we are not allowed even to look at the lyrics if we have Spotify free. Like seriously.

ThineCyberCat

@luciana13 it's been resolved

Brooke26

How many times a month is it even? Haven't been able to find anything on it and it's weird that Spotify doesn't specify

traynce

i wish yall understood spotify is bleeding so much money keeping the service free as it is. if you want lyrics you’re going to have to pay — and in all honesty, there’s going to be a point where they ask you to pay to use the service because that’s just how it is now. lyrics are not a needed feature, which is why they make you pay for it. it’s upsetting but this is business ☹️💔
