Removing items from Recently Played history

I would also like it if we had the option to remove our recently played history because sometimes I would listen to someone's playlist, an artist, or one of my own playlists by accident and I don't really listen to the playlist or artist anymore or I already have a song by that artist and it doesn't make sense to keep it in my library or recently played history.

Ok, so this ticket was opened in 2019, the status has not been updated for 2 years, and apparently like a lot of PAID services the user has only as much control over the app as the streaming service will allow.

With any PAID service the customers need to push hard against companies like Spotify, cancel subscriptions, move to another platform, anything to get the message across. We should have control over the apps, how we use them and all related data.

At least that's what I'm going to do.

I always mis-tap songs when I try to tap the three dots and it infuriates me how you guys removed the option to remove a song from your listening history. We get that you guys want us to listen to new stuff but it's annoying that we're paying for a feature you used to provide and we never even asked you to remove in the first place. And y'all not following user feedbacks will mess you up on the long run if not already, just saying.

Everyone go to the contact us section of Spotify and copy this idea into your question asking for an update. They’ll say they passed it on to the relevant teams so just threaten to move to Apple Music or something. The more of us that do this the squeakier this wheel gets and the more likely they’ll actually get to work on this.

I agree this issue is 100% tedious and frustrating. I have listened to podcasts that friends have shared and not enjoyed them cause the content was racist and politically incorrect. And even though I un-followed, Spotify will keep playing the new episodes at random, when I work out and sometimes when I am trying to fall asleep and listening to my meditation podcasts. It's very startling and frustrating. I would bump this up big time.

Seems like an easy fix? Programming wise why can't there just be a line of code that says:
IF follow is null then do not play ever again

My account was hacked.
Discovered that the same sh*tty playlist has been playing every day for almost a month.
Changed Password, Logged out everywhere and revoked access to all apps.
Tried to go into history to delete played songs in order to save my algorithm. I'm pretty sure I used to be able to do this years ago. Apparently this is not possible and now i'm married to these listening choices for the life of my spotifuggle account.
Long time paying user and am very disappointed.

How many votes do you need to take this issue seriously.

Your almost at 2000 votes!

It's a problem.

And if your not going to listen to your customer base... That's a bigger problem!

I want to clear my listening history. But there's not "delete" icon in listening history.

Come on, Spotify! It’s been almost five years now. How hard is it to get this basic thing to work?

Really? I am using Spotify since 2017, I am sure it was possible to remove items from "recents" in the past. Why it doesn't work now? Why I can't remove something after account hacking? Why your customer service is not allowed to help me? It's a shame.

Ye if I play something for mate/their kid etc..

It's affecting my algorithm negatively..

Thanks

I let other people play music in my car using my spotify so I don't have to connect a new bluetooth user every time. They don't know about private sessions, and I only learned about it last week. It's not an obvious function. I shouldn't have to be bombarded by suggestions based on other peoples interests, or my own exploration into a genre or artist. Especially if I find out later how much I hate it.

Not being allowed to remove disliked content from one's history actively discourages Spotify Users to branch out and try new music. Private sessions doesn't always cut it as it needs to be manually activated or disabled. I'm not going to remember to turn it on every time I pick up my mom from work. I've tried. It is not a viable alternative to simply removing tracks or artists from the history.

If one of the most data hungry entities (Google and Youtube) gives me the option to clear my history, or selectively clear it, then why on earth can't this OFTEN PAID FOR music streaming service??
