[Search] Search by BPM (Beats per Minute)

Hi All,

As someone who loves punishing my body by going for long runs,  a good playlist to keep me company is essential!

Picking out and discovering which 'choons' are going to speed me up and push me further can be tricky.

One trick used by many runners is to search out and find songs which all have a similar number of beats per minute so they can place them in order and then use the beat of the song to run to.

As such, it would be awesome to be able to search Spotify for songs which have specific ranges of BPM and then pick the cool [subjective] ones for inclusion in your playlists.

I can imagine the indexing or meta data would be the most purplex item SOOOOoooooo.....

What if you allowed users to set speeds. Right on the dot BPM would be optimal, but if Spotify or some other application allowed users to label the tempo of BPM Range, we could look in our favorite list of songs and filter ranges (via radio button).

I imagine the spotify community could beta test and or deem the tempo.

I agree with everybody here. This would be a really helpful feature. As other streaming services come online (like Beats) this would keep Spotify competitive.

I agree. Would be nice to search Hands Up music BPM 145 and Hardstyle music BPM 150 or even more. The more BPM the better 🙂

Bump - brilliant idea. This type of search would keep Spotify competitive and make the app even more useful for times where the BPM could be kind of important - such as exercising, small house parties, etc...

That would be extremely helpful! Not only for running, but also for making Spotify lists for parties or whatever. Huge huge kudo in my opinion! I've been thinking about it for a very long time.

I give kudos as a runner this would make Spotify the ultimate for me! I find timing my runs to music is awesome and I know so many runners who do the same but need software to help them do this. Please spotify consider doing this!!
